Mephisto Genetics Mephisto LED vs HPS Sour Crack AF-SOG!

Then again Dear TaNG.... The yields you are getting are awesome and that is not due to ANY light. Sure GN Leds are great but the main thing about your monster plants is YOU.

And I think a lot of new growers here can sometimes forget that, they see your plants and yield and then thinking...WoW...those GN Leds must be fantanstic.....but thats really not the whole truth when it comes to you.

Jim

edit: I know...I was one of them a few years back and got a ms0006 based only on you and your grows....and I did not like that light very much at all. I like my street lights, maybe because I am so used to them.

I almost think you can grow weed under a few candles... and then we all will rave about candles. lol

I agree although my GN0006 changed my game! lol.

For some reason I thought it was day 15 earlier, and due a photo update, but today is actually onl day 12 from sprout.

Here are the best examples from each tent..

I missed it previously but someone asked for some temps with laser thermometer so I'll get on that in a moment.

Cheers!

at this stage , the hps has a clear advantage:Sharing One: test condition's may be skewed a little, but it's still early in the test.:cool:i think the targeted spectrum of the led, may have an advantage during flowering:grin: time will tell.:peace: :tiphat:

Here's some temperature information for those interested.

Temps taken 10pm Espana time :)

Outside Temp - 44.1 degrees

Tent room ambient temp - 70.0 degrees

HPS tent ambient temp - 75.2 degrees

LED tent ambient temp - 70.4 degress

HPS leaf temps - 72-74 degrees

LED leaf temps - 66-68 degrees

HPS soil surface temp - 72-74 degrees

LED soil surface temp - 65-66 degrees

Room is currently running lighting, 600w hps, 400w hps, 140w led

HPS tent is the perfect temperature for me and the weedlings.

I'd love a tube heater right now, I can't really justify running the 760-ish watts of the fan heater just for the minimal increase in temperature it provides, would be better to put another tent, plants and 600w of light in it.

cheers all

suppose you lower the led's, so that leaf temp is the same as hps?
that would also raise the soil temp to about the same. leveling the playing field a little? ...... just thinking out loud:grin:

Is there no way you can put the heater in the led tent? Or is it to biggus dickus for that?

Justiiiiiiiiiin

With only two leds in there already giving kinda poor light spread, lowering the lights will make that worse.

I think they need 3 or 4 of them leds to justify that.

Or a watt eater heater in there to raise temps.

I gather as Mitch says, hard to justify the high wattage of a heater, if it came to that then just run 600 watt lights.

Well, if you look at the temperatures, the LED tent is only 0.4 above ambient temp, whereas the hps is 5 degrees above.
in summer here that could be a game changer.
although here in the mountains in summer we can still grow with no ac generally.
maybe a tube heater is in order of they can raise temps a few degrees and consume less than 100w.
But to run the fan heater is a big waste of electricity if saving electricity is the aim of the game.

True that.

During winter time here in Sweden I used to run a heater with a temp controller so that my heater only started when it dropped belows specific degree, say 23c and run it up to 25c then shut off again. Still costly tho... and very much so if the iam is to be low in watt,

Well we just gotta hope the spring with warmer temps is just around the corner

Love the plants by the way Miiaaatch!!
