I ditched the clamp style fans and picked up these things called money fans (Secret Jardin makes them) because I was having the same issue.

And me bro these 6 inch clip on are the perfect size but as you say they need to oscilate.i bought a 12 inch because it oscilated but it does not clip on lol and is too big anyway for my tent

I use a 16 inch oscillating wall fan in a tent work that one out [emoji12] all it takes is a peice of 2x1 fix the wall bracket from the fan onto the 2x1 wood then drill 6 holes In the wood and attach to the tent pole with heavy duty tie wraps and to stop it sliding up and down your tent pole use another tie wrap or jubilee clip [emoji106]

These can clamp to poles then clamp fan to its end
