That hydrodude again
There we go! I finally throw in my hat and start a growdiary. I would have started with some automatic strain but since the patient I am growing for (my dear wife) kindly asked for some more Mazar and we had some seeds still left, I couldn't say no. My experience is mainly about photoperiods but I've done one automatic grow with fair results. I got about 90g out of Blue Automazar with 2xHS1's. And right there is my reason for starting this grow diary, actually.
Dear people of autoflower.net community. I am on a quest on getting minimum of 1 gpw from my HS1 I should be getting. While I don't consider myself a total noob, I cannot help but to say that I must be doing something wrong if my crops are so minimal compared to many others I've seen being grown here. No, it is not an ego thing. I wish it would be and my situation would be just so that I would be growing for fun but alas, I am not. I just need to maximise the quantity and the quality of the medication that I provide for my dearest.
I need your help on figuring out what is it that I am doing wrong that is keeping me from getting at least 150g dry using two HS1's. I have started up on the growing two Mazars and they are now on their 9th day of seeing the light. I start by using only one HS1 and later when they move for flowering I will start using two HS1's.
My plan is to start off with EC 0.5 for first two weeks, then start to raise it by 0.2 by next two weeks and then see how the plants are acting up and go from there. I think since these babies are indica dominant they will like a little higher feed but we will see.
Grow space:
60cm x 120cm x 200cm (DxWxH) = 0,72 m2
Lights:
1 x HS1 for vegetative grow
2 x HS1 for generative grow
Reservoir:
DIY with two airstones and airpump (200 litres/hour) I have learned from reading Seymours growdiaries that I would need to update my airpump to seriously more capable one. This one is on my shopping list for when I can get a better one.
Added a waterpump for easy water changes so that will eliminate the need for moving the reservoir. Plastic of the reservoir is polypropylene because it is rugged and really resistant to many chemical solvents, bases and acids. I just covered it with some tinfoil layer, then a layers of different tape to secure and protect it. Pretty basic, huh?
Nutrient line-up:
Canna Aqua Vega & Flores
Canna Rhizotonic (root stimulator)
Canna Cannazyme
Canna PK13/14
Canna Boost
HydroGarden Essentials Silicon+
General Hydroponics Diamond Nectar
RAW Nutrients Cal/Mag
Air movement:
Carbon filter and exaust fan
Oscillating fan (tower)
Other:
Net for LST
DAY 9
Nutrient feed:
21 litres of water in reservoir (plain water EC from the tap was 0.1)
Aqua Vega 10ml (approx. 0,5ml per litre)
Rhizotonic 80ml (approx. 4 ml per litre)
EC 0.5
pH 6,0
RH 55
Temperature above the plants 27.5 C (noticed that the temperature sensor was bit too close to the HS1 exaust, might be little elevated due to that)
I have two Mazars growing, right now I call them leftie and rightie. Right off the bat you can see both are growing topheavy. This happens to me almost always and I have to support them until they strengten their stems enough to hold their weight. I have the HS1 about 50cm from the plants so these babies are 100% sure getting enough light. I just wonder why they keep doing that...
Another interesting point is the leftie there with the twisted stem. As they both sprouted, I saw that the rightie did come up normally but when I saw leftie coming up I did see only whitish stem coming up. Giving it a closer look revealed that the top of the young seedling had gotten stuck alongside with the opened seed to the hole in the rockwool. I had to do a little emergency surgery to help the poor one raise its head up and she seems to be ok and maybe over time she might get that funky twist straighened up or something. I am following the progress in that one with interest.

Right now would be a good time for you guys to give these two babies names. Anything goes! Just not "leftie" or "rightie"!
