Meanwell drivers seem to be the best. Mine do get hot which is normal but I tell you it's a lot cooler than some hps or lec ballasts I have used in the past. I have also never seen one shut down due to high temps.

Yes you will be fine. Something I would do is add in some sort of spacer whether it be a a few extra washers behind it even another small block of wood. People don't consider these small improvements but that's what can set you apart. If the driver has air flow behind it I'd guess if would run 10-20% cooler which could in turn add significant life to the driver.I was planning on screwing it up to a wooden board and have it mounted to the side of my growroom along with the rest of the electricity sockets and such. So as long as it runs anywhere between 30C to 70C it should be just fine there, I think.

If you wanna see them in action check my latest post in my grow longI need to read up on these citizen chips. They seem to be getting a reputation
Looks good to me. How's the brightness?I finished this build now. First time doing soldering in my life and I got to admit I was really nervous doing those COB's and my hands started to shake while trying initially. I think I managed alright though I must have tortured the COBs having some problems with the solder to stick at first. I figured I had to crank the heat up to somewhere between 350 to 400C so the solder melted nice and quick and I got connection. I hanged it up and test fired the whole thing and it works alright. After some 15 minutes I turned it off and tried the cooler with my hand and it seemed really warm. I'd estimate something around 50 to 60 celsius. I think next up I am going to insert a temperature monitor to it and let it run for couple of hours and see how the temps are holding up.
You might be able to notice from the pics that I used couple of anti vibration rubber pads under the powersource to both provide some space underneath it and reduce any possible vibration.

That's response is why I love this S#!T so much! Sorry for laughing but every person that fires up their first set of cobs does the same thing. I spend a lot of time referring people to citizen cobs and it's nice to see happy members here at afn.Well... lets just say first time I fired it up, without sunglasses on, made me want to close my eyes and take cover while seeing little dots. I rather wear sunglasses from now on bro. It is that intense.
For the growing, I think I will start up my grows with Grow Northerns HS1 and only after say three weeks or so I would switch to this unit. It has a built in potentiometer too that I could toy around with but I doupt it would make that much of a difference.
