Question, do many here low stress train their autos? I used SCROG on my first grow which was time consuming but fun. I didn't want to try any LST on my first autos cause I wanted to see how they grew without first. Wondering if many use LST and how much it helps with a)yeilds b) keeping plant at a reasonable height.

LST is easy man! I think it increases total yield overall, but it DOES improve the quality of the yield.
It's very effective on an indica structured girls. A sativa girl seems to be less effective.
I had two GG#4 from Linda seeds and one was indica and the other turned out sativa structured. I LST'd all girls the same way. When the one girl at pre-flower, went totally nuts with a huge stretch. I had to stop LST on her. I had to make stands to raise up the other two girls.
Yeah, it helped her structure and I'm sure it diminished her end height/ If I gad let her grow naturally, she could have over grown the tent in height. She did generate 5oz of good firm bud, I just took the tops. The rest of her made a TON of dry ice hash. There was just too much bud to trim that wasn't up to my standards and this was the best way to harvest and utilize her bounty.

hmmmmm.... now I wish I started LST already, specifically on the BB. The BB stock is really thick right now and not the most bendy. I might on the weekend see what I can do with LST as I am a bit worried about height specifically. My tent is just 5" tall so factor in the lights and not a lot of grow height available. In hind sight I should have bought a taller tent. So BB can only get about double it's current height otherwise I'll have to get creative with the lighting to accommodate.

Anchor really good at the base, then pull the main top over in the opposite direction. If it's really stiff, do a little each day. Leaf tuck to expose new sites you'll get from pulling over. Soon you'll have new sites to pull over to the sides of the pot. Shoot for an even canopy to break the cola dominance, so the plant will send the hormones to all the tops to grow.

I hope this helps ya bro!!

week 3
Anchor at the bottom of the pic and top is the pull over

Week 8
Expand the pic and look at the top of the pot for ALL the soft ties I used. I used a BUNCH!
Notice the simple little stands I made to raise them up to Miss Wispy. I still had to build more the next week! LOL!

I don't think it's too late as long as you're gentle with it. I have trained later and still made a big difference. This here is some good advice though and I may use the anchoring and pulling the next time I have a stiff girl. I'm always amazed at how many little useful tidbits I can pick up in one stop by this site, and more then once a day. Plants look great and good insight.

The most helpful forum I've ever been on. I try to pass on what I've learned about organics in the past 30 years and what I've learned from here.

Thinking I might experiment, I have baby Bruce growing now, just first set of leaves. Use LST on her but leave big Bruce alone. Do a comparison on yield at the end. I really liked the SCROG method since I could put any branch exactly where I wanted it and I made a thick canopy all the same height, but in the last couple weeks when I got powder mildew it was a real PITA because I couldn't move the plants around to clean them real good. So I never really won the battle, I just kept the mildew at bay. So I'd like to get good at LST instead of SCROG for that reason along really. So far no signs of powder mildew this time. I scrubbed everything in the tent after that grow and washed the room floors with bleach.

***DAY 23*** Let The Low Stress Training Begin LST

Ok @WildBill I did it. Looking at Critical mass tonight I saw soooo many branches totally covered by the huge top fan leaves that I had to get them light. So I went at them with low stress training. So I did the same with Bruce Banner. I used the spongey garden ties like you use. I'll keep at it, shaping better, but at least I've opened up CM and made BB more even in height instead of the tall main cola.
The plants don't look as pretty as they did, especially CM which was so nice looking. But I guess it's not a beauty contest and in the end I like us all want as much yield as possible. So I have pictures to remember how pretty they started off, now I'm going for the goal.

This is gelato... WTF?? planted at exact same time as BB and CM. She just doesn't want to get big but has all sorts of mini branches growing. It's an inch tall. No curiously, my baby BB that I am growing in the same pot that I started gelato in isn't growing as fast as the first BB grew. Now it's only been one week since she popped out of the soil, but still, wondering if there is something with this pot? I used the same peat moss mix in a giant bag that I used for the other two plants. Hoping baby bruce grows as well as it's mom and doesn't take after ugly cousin gelato.

And a couple cool @Marshydro TS600 and TS1000 light pics.

20210121_185119.jpg

I have the two TS600's on either side of the TS1000 for obvious reasons, having the TS1000 light overflow splash onto the plants directly under the TS600's. I will say, when I turn off the TS1000 a ton of dark patches show up all over the plants on either side. Even in areas on the opposite side of the plant from the light. Goes to show just how much light this cost effective fixture can put out. I really like the TS 1000. As mentioned, if lucky enough to win the SP6500 I'll be buying a new tent and using the TS600's and TS1000 as my starter tent and the SP 6500 for my finishing tent. And I don't have a good place to dry my harvest without the entire house stinking, so I figure once I harvest and move plants from starter tent to finishing tent I'd dry the harvest in the starter tent with the lights taken out but keep the fresh air circulating. We'll see, I have a lot of catching up to do to surpass @WildBill , where do I get some type of forum bots??? lol... kid'n

***Day 24***

Ok, the day after I started LST Bruce is not doing well again. Many leaves at the top turning yellow. It was greening up quite well and all green this week and then today BAM... yellowing is back. Critical Mass is still good. What the.... Any ideas? Do you think the LST could have caused this temporarily? You can see in the pic I posted last night at 11:30pm that BB was nice and green, and now today all this yellow.

No matter what I do Critical Mass looks great. Falling in love with this strains temperament. Although I'm not the biggest Indica fan, and it looks indica heavy to me. But really happy with whatever I throw at it.
