what merchant did you get your seeds from bro? that lowberry sounds pretty sweet

iLuvIndica & alton956,
I got the Lowberry from dutchbreed.com. I posted a review of them in the seedbanks forum.
They did a good job with the transaction, if the seeds prove out, I will use them again in the fuure.

Heat problems in the box...

OK, I got off my ass and got the grow box finished (more or less). So that I could get my little seedlings out of the wide open.
Box is basically 48"H x 36"L x 22"W
Running 1- 240w Blackstar
1- NuTone Ultra Silent exhaust fan 80 CFM 0.8 sones (yeah really quiet) has a 4" exhaust port. I have drilled 5-1" holes in the bottom of the box for passive air to enter.
Now I am trying to be careful not make too many holes for passive air exchange lest I lose negative air pressure in the box, which would allow unfiltered odors out.

So my problem for now is with ambient temp outside of the box being 78f -86f , the temps in the box go up to 92f. Which as far as I understand will inhibit growth.
My solution at this time is to put a frozen 1 gallon jug of H2o in the box which brings the temp in the box down to the 81f-84f temp range. This last for roughly 6-8 hours, then I have to swap out a new frozen jug.
I don't mind this solution, but I am concerned because others I have communicated with that have similar sized grow spaces have said they have about a 5f degree increase in temps over ambient temp outside of the box. My increase is between 8f-12f higher than the ambient temp outside of the box.
Do you think I need more holes in the bottom of the box to allow greater exchange of air?
Or???

Bump- on the heat issue.
Any thoughts?
Any body else experiencing a 12degree+ rise (compared to the temp outside of the box) in temps in their box using a Blackstar 240W?
I am kind of stumped.

Well, I think I have the heat issue sorted out. I apparantly had an exhaust leak that was sending hot air back into the box.
Temp seems to holding well at 86 regardless of the ambient temp of the outside room. Now there hasn't been any big flucutations in that room yet, so we will see.

Same originally germed seedlings are doing well 3 of 3 Lowryder Mint, 1 of 3 Lowberry but with the addition of 1 of 1 Auto Assasin and 1 of 2 White JEMs (I expect the other JEM to break ground tommorrow)
The AA has broken ground and looks to be almost caught up with the LM & LB. And if the rate of growth on the first popped WJ is any indication of overall growth, it will be bypassing the LM & LB in a week or so.

Does anyone water by setting their containers in water and letting the soil soak from below or does that create problems?
I ask because my soil mixture seems pretty light and using the finger in the dirt method (to about the 2nd knuckle) it is drying out pretty quickly. (Needs H2O everyother day)
Of course I wouldn't just leave the container in the water indefintely just enough for the soil to be soaked and then put back in the grow box.
I have used this method with other container grown plants that seemed to dry out quickly with some success.

temp ?

Well, I have my growbox temp stablized @ 78-86 degrees.
Is that too warm? I have read under 80 is best.
I am going to add an intake fan this week and see if that helps.

86 is a bit warm, but definitely not too hot to grow a plant. I had temps around 95 all of my last grow. Had quite a few problems with it, but i did get sum good smokeable buds.

:pop: Damn subed to this thread, but I wish there were pictures tough...

BOTH: LowBerry and LowryderMINT sound awesome, hope you can give us a good feedback bout their development and specially the smoke report.

Wish you the best!

Pictures will be coming.
At this point they are so small I don't see any reason to post any.

Pictures for those who were wanting to see them

OK, so we have the Auto Assassin jumping to the front, followed by the lowberry which looks the worst, then the three lowrydermints 1-2-3, and the white jem bringing up the rear with a lovely shade of dark green.
I added a 4 inch computor fan to supply incoming air in hopes that would help the heat problem, didn't do much.
I am guessing that I need a exhaust fan with a greater output than 80 cfm, but that really blows (pun intended) as I am certain this one is quiet. argg!

Hey gtron you have a ph meter? Those seedlings look like mine when i was using tap water with a high ph. Are you phing your water?
