Other than grow supplies from Build a Soil, I only have one other Black Friday purchase.
It's something I've been mulling around about getting for quite a while.
Well time has come to either 'sh*t or get off the pot'!
And it's definitely time to start my project with the old Crown Vic. And with the road trip to my boy for Christmas planned, It's time to get hot and get it done!
There is still a lot life left in the old girl, but her suspension and brakes definitely needs a rebuild. For the suspension it's not really the mileage, she only has little over 130,000 miles. Time has been really hard on all the rubber components and developed a fair amount of slop.
I've already got a majority of the parts on hand, but still have a few more pieces to buy. Parts are relatively cheap for this vehicle and not really overly complicated.
Now, I could probably do the project with a jack and jack stands, but it is a
big heavy ass car! So for safety sake and ease, I'm getting something that fits the bill perfectly and with Black Friday specials, it's time to purchase.
So as soon as the company opens up in Cali, I'm calling to make sure I have the right Model picked out for what I want to do, now and in the future.
I'm going to purchase a Portable Quickjack 7000TL.
Their Black Friday special is $375 off of every model! I think that's quite a good deal, but it gets better!
Home Depot also carries this Product! So I go check the Home Depot site this morning and sign into my account. On top of the Black Friday special which they are honoring, I also get my 10% veterans discount! And to put icing on top of the cake there's no shipping for home delivery!
List price for this unit is $1,950.00. Delivered price from Home Depot is $1,439.10!
I'll probably do the rear suspension first, since it's the easiest and I can drive it without getting an alignment.. The only difficult part is breaking a loose the one main bolt for the Watts Link. It has Loctite and 200 foot pounds of installed force. Everything else on the rear suspension is very easy to replace.
Then I definitely need to do a tune up on it. Highways miles per gallon has gone down to 23 from 26 cruising at 70 to 75.
If I were still working and doing the same job as I was before, I would buy a new car and if something went wrong just let the dealer handle it. But let's face it, being retired I'm not gonna use it as much and new cars are just too god-damn expensive!!!!
