I was born into a family that served this food ( not the canned green chili sauce that we love also) but the rellenos and sauce.

The rellenos are more like a souffle than a stuffed fried pepper, a Fire roasted Pepper is wrapped around the cheese and then dipped in batter and floated in hot oil to cook like a doughnut. It is not cooked through as the cooking is finished in the oven. They keep remarkably well frozen I have eaten them years old. The sauce is tomato, fire roasted peppers cheese and cream.
