I was laid off and qualified for some program to be "re-trained" a new skill. Things were bad here after 9/11, half the county lost their job.

I live very close to Manhattan. 9/11 boosted construction and union jobs here a ton for years afterwards. I spent a couple years working on site before it wore me out
