Dude…. It was so bad! There was this Warrant Officer next to me in the “cool down area” ( this is where you continually spray water on your face in front of a large hurricane fan in hopes that it will put the fire out….it does, until you move away then you get it full force again….)…. This poor dude was on his last tour, and was loudly questioning basically every decision he made in his career to wind him up at that place in time….all through cuss words and gasps of air….

The burn lasts hours, reflashes happen intermittently during the next few hours and the next day, as it comes outta your pores…. Worst day of training in the navy, hands down…

Maybe the defining point is just how deeply or strongly your life was in danger at the moment and how long that moment was.
