@Olderfart , @DCLXVI , @InkAddict$ ..I have the the utmost respect for you all... But I personally don't like Jiffy plugs/pellets, pots, or anything of the sort. I have never had luck with them. Tried using them many times over the years. But recently I grew 2 AK-47 autos, one in a Peat Pellet for transplant, and the other direct to 5 Gallon...Twice. Both pellets were No Beuno as far as overall growth and development compared to the direct to pot. But...I know it can be done because you have proven that. But for me, I only plant direct to final pot, and it will always be my recommendation to the inexperienced .

Just my 2¢

I like small rockwool cubes they work way better for germ....hold water better...I always get good germ out of them without soaking the seeds....

I do something very similar if I transplant I cut the bottom off and slice up the sides of the inner cup then once transplanted I can carefully side the cup out seems to have been pretty stress free IMPE

Me too, exactly. The split solo setup is by far the best method I have found for transplanting seedlings. Excellent documentation of the setup, thanks for posting. :pighug:

There's an old Spanish adage about visitors: "Las visitas son como el pescado, después de tres días huelen a feo." (Visitors are like fish, after 3 days they start to stink). Today is day 4...
I don't know about fish that is even two days old - phuewee. Guests are worse!
Guys, I ripped the root of one of my seedlings, when removing the jiffy pellet netting. Will this set me back?

I have seen a lot of evidence that suggests you should take the fabric off

Yes, if you ripped off the tap root that plant will be stunted. There are several reasons not to use jiffy pellets for cannabis, the first is the PH is too low at around 5. You need to buffer them in 6.5 PH solution before planting. Then the netting can slow the tap root, this is not too much of a problem with photoperiod plants because you have plenty of time for veg but it will slow an auto and may even stunt it. The tap root of an auto in good loose media can grow 9 inches in 3 days. This is one reason why autos do so well in Bubble hydroponics. IMPO direct planting is best then the sponge type starter cubes or rock wool are better options for starting Auto seeds.
