I plant into final homes now if I do anything like it is in the same media I am growing in and I start in a solo cup then transplant but 90% of my plants are germinated in their final homes soak the seed then straight to the pot :headbang:
Have you ever seen the insta transplant cups some folks use if they do need to start like that? Works well, and as close to stress free transplanting as you can get.

In case you haven’t….. it’s two solo cups stacked into each other. The inner cup has big windows cut out of it. Fill the cup with your medium and start your seedling. When it’s time to transplant (easy to tell since you can pull the inner cup up a little to peak at the roots)….just pull the inner cup out and put it in it’s final home. Roots will grow right out through the windows. Some folks cut a bottom window too.
Works good if your growing media is too hot for seedlings…

Yup, my go to! I still use the pellets but as soon as I get true serrated leaves I plant the pellet in “insta-transplant solo cups and go from there

I do something very similar if I transplant I cut the bottom off and slice up the sides of the inner cup then once transplanted I can carefully side the cup out seems to have been pretty stress free IMPE

@Olderfart , @DCLXVI , @InkAddict$ ..I have the the utmost respect for you all... But I personally don't like Jiffy plugs/pellets, pots, or anything of the sort. I have never had luck with them. Tried using them many times over the years. But recently I grew 2 AK-47 autos, one in a Peat Pellet for transplant, and the other direct to 5 Gallon...Twice. Both pellets were No Bueno as far as overall growth and development compared to the direct to pot. But...I know it can be done because you have proven that. But for me, I only plant direct to final pot, and it will always be my recommendation to the inexperienced .

Just my 2¢
