@Slater ...did you ever buy the house next door..........?

Yes we did and we got it for asking price, our solicitor caught the estate agents break the law so they sold it to us.
They had be using us as a kind of insurance policy but doing a sort of back hander with developers at the auctions. On the day of the auction our solicitor found out that they hadn't had the energy efficiency ratings done which is a legal requirement when going to auction. They where very quick to give it to us. Also they had been lying to the owner that the family of 4 next door wanted to buy for asking price. Shevwould have said yes straight away. She even wrote a letter of apology to our solicitor.
Basically a shit show and our solicitor is worth every penny we paid.

13 and half hours in and about an hour away from wrapping the brisket.
Keeping the fire stoked and chucking the ball is my lot at the moment... man I'm so stoned and tired, I better be careful my oldest know this time to ask Dad shit and he just nods in agreement.

I haven't smoked a brisket since I stopped raising my own beef. The quality of brisket just really hasn't been there for my snobby ass.
I've used a New Braunfels Bandera model since the early 90s. You can smoke a LOT of meat in it. I usually have a couple pork loins cut in half, a couple pork butts or shoulder and a couple racks of pork ribs. ........chicken and/or sausage if there's room.
Here's what one looks like. I've had an original and in the past 5yrs, the company that bought them out, started building it again.

I found mine at a Walmart at almost half price to move it.
Great smoker and grill. I wouldn't use anything else that would fit on my back porch. Just nothing on the market that's better that's not a custom job.
A pic of the last loin I smoked.......time to fill the whole chest again!!

Tell me about it, he's had the Sunday leg of lamb twice now. He's a very clever boy, he remembers and is always working out his plan of attack. Turn your back and its gone.

That awesome that you raised your own cows.
I'm still using my cheap starter smoker, can fit about 2/3 of a brisket in snd nothing else. I have been looking at the oklahoma joe brand. We can't get the full range but we can get the off set smokers in the UK. As an off the shelf smoker they look good and im considering one as my next upgrade.
This is the end game buy I would like, custom made in the UK, reverse flow. Near £3000.
