Only sisrr

Yeah I do the paper towel also. So it's maybe not identical. I soak in a shot glass for 18 hours. Then I put in moist paper towel between 2 glass plates in a sandwich bag. Then once a Taproot is about an inch I put into the root riot plugs in a seedling tray with a dome. Then once the roots are showing at the bottom of the root riot I transplant into it's final home a 1 gallon plastic grow bag.
I heard that you should only soak the beans until they sink when you tap on them. In my experience thats usually around 3-4hrs. And i only use distilled water when germinating. Im the same way, if it aint broke dont fix it.

Yea I probably should have put that . I soak for a maximum of 18 hours. But once they sink I usually go to the paper towels. The fresher the seeds the quicker they sink. And I have some seeds that are few years old.

I saw this one dude that soaked his beans until they had the cotyledons showing. I think it was @Slater. But he doesn't post on here anymore.

Id be too worried about drowning the poor things haha. Thats crazy talk, but if it works
, it works. I also hear of people not planting until the taproots are over an inch long! Not hating because like i said before, if it works, it works!!! I just try to eliminate steps and get the plant into its final home in as few steps as possible and as early as possible, if i start having problems, then i will consider changing my practices.

That thing is shooting out the soil!!

@Lil Dab i think one should be up today or tomorrow, when i peeked in the cube this morning it had a taproot almost an inch and a half!

Sweet I'm pretty sure I only have the one the other one stalled hasn't moved since yesterday just below the surface think it damped off but least I got one going :oops1::pass:

Do you think it would be ok to veg the LZ on 20/4?
I don't see how it would hurt. I'd really only do it if I didn't have a really good light and needed the extra exposure to meet the Appropriate DLI.
Really, just make sure you give them the appropriate DLI.
If you can meet the appropriate DLI at the lesser lighting schedule, Then the longer one is just going to be more expensive and not needed.
Now you can run them at that level and observe them toward the end of the cycle. If they begin to droop like they're going to sleep, anything past that, may not correlate over at the same rate of growth.

Opinions?
