regarding the point GN made about the red spectrum in the LED, would it be possible to maybe alter/change the red spectrum to help with the cal/mag problems? :peace:
Blackstar has increased red...just got one!!

I've been using kind k5 leds. You can adjust the red ,blue, and white light intensity from 0-1000. For me it is and incredible light fixture. It also had a programmable timer to mimic natural sunrise and sunset.

i just glanced over this thread but am surprised by the LEDs ppl are buying on here

anyway calcium and magnesium are not mobile nutrients so you plant needs to perspire to suck up more as it grows, get your temps up to the high 20s(i like 28-31c myself) and you wont have this issue

in an hps room there is enough heat under the lights for temps to be up there so....

I too have always wondered what was the root cause for cal mag problems with LED grow lights. I always seemed to have a few plants every grow under LED have such a problem. I was thinking it's the temperature at the center of the root ball so I checked them and was astonished to find the center root mass was 59f and was grow decent but displayed the cal mag defficaciey so that was one theory I had another one was the amount of UVA and UVB makes so I corrected them according to my own thinking and haven't had a problem since I brought the root temperature up and got a Black Dog LED and haven't had a problem since as to what actually causes it is wish I knew but I made all the changes to my grow style at once so it would be hard to say what fixed it for me.

I personally think autoflowers just looove to eat calmag.. Its just the way the plants are.. @Dion is right about temps and the plants sweating.. they have to sweat or perspire.. this is why i will allways be a hybrid Lamp user... i cant get a LED lamp to penetrate the leaves like a HID will, So logic tells me to use both LED and HID.. its works so freaking well!! I also like to overlap my light foot prints!!!

what about the CREE LED's those are pretty darn high powered and appear to penetrate well.

yes the new cobs def penetrate very well, the intensity is just insane really when holding hand under it for a few sec, u say wow, the back of hand is really burning right now wow. 50 watts of power confined into such a small space u are destine to have light sabers n future.
i run CXB3070 3500k BB at 1.4A = 50W / 8k lumens = 160lm/W each.

@edit wow its hurting still..
