I'm seeing a bit of magnesium deficiency on my first grow using an Amare SE450. It has 6 cree 3070's and 60 monochrome led's I had been just adding 3ml about every 3rd watering using my blurple led's with no problems. Vic from Amare says the plants use more cal/mag due to the increased photosynthesis from the high intensity and better light spectrum. So I'm adding it every watering now till the new growth looks fine.

the veins don't usually turn yellow first with cal/mag issues. I suspect ph issue/s
Thanks @pop22 I use Advanced Nutrients (pH perfect) with the exception of General Organics Cal/mag. Would you recommend a flush? I would rather not but if need be I will.
Thanks for your input, much appreciated.
Btw, what happened to the journal with your wife? I haven't gotten a notification for it in some time.

Peace

Thank you @iampepe that is helpful. I am using a PC CX300 and it it also pretty intense.
To what ratio is your 3ml feed, in liters or gallons?
Hello, i cant answer your 2 questions but i would like to know myself.good questions.
I grow hydro and my calmag is 1tsp. Per gallon recommended.
I have gone so far as 10 tsp. In a 7 gallon tub.
hope that helps alittle anyway
Very helpful. Hopefully we can figure it out together. If I happen to get it straight, I'll be sure to post my conclusion and how I got there for ya.
Thanks!

Sorry, that would be per gallon

I have a couple questions that I can't find the answers to. Before I read this whole thread, I wanted to put them out there first, in case someone can shed some light and help me out.

1) has anyone noticed a difference in cob, white light, reducing, or increasing the need for cal/mag?

2) what is considered too much cal/mag?

I started with a calcium deficiency in my HBBSS very early, before day 20 I believe. I have upped my doses from 1ml/L to 1.5ml/L and so on, until now, day 31. I gave her 3 ml/L yesterday.
The rusty lower fans have subsided but the middle growth appeared to be indicating mag def. about a week ago. At that point I was giving 2.5ml/L. As stated, I am up to 3ml/L as of yesterday. She has consumed her 2 liter feed in 24 hrs and looks great, aside from, what appears to be, this mag def creeping up to newer growth.
I have yet to read anyone dosing cal/mag this heavy. I have what is considered soft water, according to town records. But even growers with RO have not needed this much!

I am sceptical upping cal/mag at this point and need to try to wrap my head around this. I hope this is a good place for inquiries.

Peace

Why not do foliar feeding with cal-mag (presuming this is before bud formation)? Foliar feeding is more immediate working, and doesn't require messing with the soil/media at all (no concerns about pH, high Ca/Mg causing lockout, etc.). And presuming you don't go crazy, there are no concerns about overdosing.

During veg period, after about 2 weeks, I often foliar feed/spray the plants every other day to make sure they get cal-mag and Azatrol, Neem or other organic-type pesticide. Plus, if like me, you are using AN pH Perfect base nutes, it's best to not mix in the high salt/ionic additives, e.g., Ca, Mg, Si; rather administer those by foliar feeding. And if you are using a reservoir, you can foliar feed the plants with organic-type nutrients that would mess up the reservoir/tubing/connectors.

Thanks for replying Bill. I have considered foliar feeding. I am just trying to be sure this is, in fact what I need. As pop22 stated, it could very well be pH issues. As far as foliar feeding all the time, it just won't happen. I would have to keep her out of the tent, pull a fan out to help dry, and wait until she is dry to put her back, to avoid burning. At that point, I may as well cut her light cycle down.
I understand other additives will mirk up the pH in the "perfect" line but AN cal/mag has too much N and I have been advised to go with General Organics line of Cal/Mag. I do check pH every feed. If it is way high or way low, I adjust; if it's between 6.2- 6.5 I let it go.

Going crazy on dosing is my concern now. I am feeding 3ml/L. Seems awfully high to still be seeing problems. I am suspecting other causes now, but just not sure.

guys, if u want ur plants to uptake calcium and other minerals better (like thousand times better) use biostimulants like L-amino acids, they are intermediate chelators making minerals available for the plants. it works no matter what lights u have!
to educate urself on the topic watch videos by Harley Smith ("NPK University") on YouTube.

i thinking flushing does more harm than good. If your keeping your ph in, what medium are you growing in? Hydro, including coco, you want 5.7-6.3 soil 6.5 -7.0
