:pop:ooo yeah bro here we go!!!

Just a quick note on the air stones. I never liked them myself they just don't spread the air around enough to suit me in a big tank. I just use soaker hoses like the kind you get for the garden. Regular hose with little holes in it. I use three of them. I like them way better.

I was wondering what the capacity if your air pump is? I am going to build a new tank to do the starts in and will be looking for a new pump for the project. How much was it and where did you get it. I am hoping that the new start tank will allow the babies to fire up with the CFL and LED combo of lighting much lower on the starting plants. I will probably use a different nuit for just start up and then tranfer to my main tank when sex shows. This way I won't be transferring any males and may get a better jump with dioffernt start up nuits and lower lights.

So I've been wanting to try hydro for some time and I'm a total newb when it comes to it, So if your experienced and you see me doing something wrong feel free to speak up I want this thread to be about learning how to use DWC properly. I got a 5-gal bubble bucket with a 6" net pot that I am going to be running. I did not like the pump or the air stone that came with my bucket so I will be using my eco air commercial 1 that I already had and I purchased a new stone the deep water innovations micro pore double. I've been soaking my hydrotron and airstone in 5.4 pH'd water for the past 24 hour's and I just now have my seeding popping out of the rapid rooter. I'm using well water that the pH is @ 7.4 and the ppm is 130 I will be getting a RO machine soon but not yet. The nute's I will be using is Advanced Nutrients pH perfect line and a plethora of their additives. That's it for now later today when I fill my bucket add the seedling and pH everything I will post pic's and let everyone know what I am doing.

I can't wait to watch this one bro! :booya: :jump:

@nelson this is the pumps ratings 18Watt - 38LPM - 2.9PSI The model is the eco plus 1 commercial but they have stronger models search it you will find them.

Alright I'm glad that is over we just had our daughters 12th b-day party and wowzer's that was crazy tweenager's running around like crazy

So this is where I'm at If anyone see's I'm messing up please let me know so I don't blunder this all up. I have filled my bucket with water to about a 1/2" beneath the net pot which is right around 3.5 gallons. My water is already @ 130ppm so I added cal/mag to reach 180 then I pH'd the water down to 5.8 the temp is @74f. Now I put the bucket in the cab to see how stable the temps are going to be. Next I will be adding the seedling here in a couple of hours as long as everything stays stable. here's somemore pics

Sounds good bro, that pump\stone combo looks likes it making plenty of bubbles. Seeing your setup reminded me I forgot those pumps take bigger air lines, and didn't order any lol. What size is that? The 60 LPM should be similar to yours. From what I've been reading you need your water level at least 1/2" up your netpot and when the roots hit the water lower 2". Anyone have any input on that chime in.

I run at least that high or maybe higher. So the young plants will have the bottom of their jiffy pucks touching water to keep the jiffy pucks from drying out. Because I am perpetual grow style one size has to fit all. When I add the second tank for the babies maybe I will lower the water level in the main tank cause when they hit the main tank their roots will already be hanging down. We will see.

Yup somebody chime in because what I've been reading is that you want it below the net pot and the splashes from the bubbles will make the roots search for the water. I believe the hose is 3/8 I.D. not really sure I'll check the DWI website to make sure.

I think roots head downward as thy have a built in gravity machine. I don't know what your seeds are planted in before they go into the net pots. Mine are in Jiffy pucks and the Jiffy pucks are held in place be red clay balls. If i didn't have them deep enough for the water level in the tank to touch the bottom of the jjiffy pucks wouldn't I have to be watering them from the top until there roots started to hang. Am i missing something here? If so fill me in.

yeah my bubbles from the air stone are popping up and are keeping my hydrotron clay balls moist but not soaked from what I have been reading that is what you want. I wish AFN tube was able to upload vids and I would show you guys what I have going on. I'm no expert this is my first go round with DWC so lets see what everybody thinks about this

good luck with it.im along for the ride.dont ask me nothing about this as i have never tried but i wish you the best with it.if anyone here can get her done you can---if you grow in water like you do in soil it will be killa!!!grow on bro!
