Photoperiod JD#1 (completed), page 5 Painkiller XL, CBD Purplematic, Critical

@fauxnacho

Excellent micro grow!!
Very impressive training of your little lady!

I was going to suggest another option for a light upgrade that would boost your grows a lot!
Have you looked into Quantum Boards, the new white light grow light revolution?
Very little heat, you can mount the driver outside to prevent excess heat and they can be dimmed.

Not sure how much 90 Euro is but it would work perfectly for your grow!!

Will be following along as you grow!
I have just started another grow and are a few weeks in. It's so much fun and so relaxing growing your own herb.
Especially now that we are home, we can really take the care to the next level!

Take care and stay safe and healthy!

Hi guys I'll get a weekly (ish) journal up and running again for what's currently growing. I like to practise my English with you friendly dudes! And it's great for keeping track of what's going on, so if there's a problem we can trace it back.

The grow space has had a bit of work done, some better lights, new pots to maximize the space. She's hooked up to the home ventilation which is awesome, all I had to do was put in some ducting. It is a bit of a Hummer exhaust on a Fiat grow space though :smoking:

These LEDs weren't expensive but they're a big upgrade. They produce no heat whatsoever so it's really easy to manage the space.

Lights off. Usually the labels are clear to read but the camera flash has made them just white.

Lights on

Rear right is thePainkiller XL, she's the only photoperiod strain in the space. She'll veg under 20/4 until the autos move out. She popped out on April 15th.
Front left is the CBD Purple, really excited to see how she turns out. I smoke CBD-only dope all the time during work. She popped on 4/20.
Rear left and front right are both Critical autos. They were the last to drop, May 1st.

All seeds are from RQS, I've always had good experiences with them, their prices are awesome and quality has always been fine. I've got a bunch of theirs to try out, but next up is a Think Different from Dutch Passion.

Medium is around 60% compost, 30% coco and 10% clay pellets for drainage. Last time out I didn't mix my compost with anything besides some clay and by the end it was a struggle to manage. Coco should help!

Nutrients are two simple liquid fertilisers from the garden centre. For veg it's NPK 7-3-5 and for flower they'll get a P boost at 7-10-5. The soil has some nutes in it already, I'm not taking much notice of that but I can always dial it back if they show signs of nute burn. Soil is a great buffer for that reason, I thought about going all coco but... nah, it's not for me just yet. Watering around twice a week, just half a litre per time with the nute solution.

All are in 2 gallon pots, 5,7 litre. The autos will live and die in these, and PKXL will go into a 5 gallon pot when she's going into flower.

So that's the setup. As for the grow so far, All I've done is remove some massive fan leaves from PKXL to keep her size down. I want her to shoot off a few branches I can take for clones, and then keep just four branches and have a go at Uncle Ben's topping method!

That is quite enough from me isn't it :jointman: Stay happy and enjoy your smoke tonight dudes
:note:

Hi dudes good growth this week! :jointman:

CBD Purple got her first pistils.

PKXL is happily vegging along. I topped her and removed lower branches to leave four mains.

The two Criticals were looking rampant but I had to top them  the space won't hold them if I let them go so I had to stunt them and reshape them a little.

And this week I also hooked up another set of lights, the girls were fighting over what I had.

Smoke happy dudes! :smoking:

Hey Faux, some good growth there! You may want to back off a bit on the nutes, as the leaf clawing is an early sign of nitrogen toxicity.

Thank you Iriee I will do, I already lost track of which plants need feed and which need plain water next, so any showing clawing will get plain water. Will start the Greenhouse seeds flush-dry-feed cycle on the CBD purp next week :smokeit: cheers bud!

Sounds like a good, plan!

Welcome my dudes :welcome: isn't it nice to have a hobby right now?
Here's the overall picture of what's going on.
all plants.jpg

Top right is CBD Purple, bottom left is Painkiller XL, other two are the Criticals.

Here's CBD Purple, she's looking good but she has absolutely zero branches other than the main cola. Starting to show her purple though!

Critical A below, this one is a bit damaged from my unskilled hands... she'll recover I'm sure!

And Critical B below, she's much better branching and overall

And lastly is the only photo, PKXL, now we may have a problem with her cos she's already getting big and there's still seven weeks until the autos move out and she can flower. I took one of her four main tops off already, I might take them all and just flower her clones. I dunno yet! :smoking:

In other news I'm S T I L L waiting on delivery of my carbon filter, and it's getting smelly in there!!

Thank you guys have a great smoke and a wonderful weekend :jointman:

Missed the pic of them all stuffed into the closet :smoking: :headbang:

Hi my dudes I have a little question which may be better placed in the infirmary section, but I don't think it's a serious problem yet.

This is CBD purple, see how the leaves near the top are bending in like that, maybe clawing? I'd guess it would be down to overfeeding but I only fed her once in the past 10 days. I flushed her, let her dry out and then fed her 1 litre of water with 5ml of a 7-10-5 NPK solution, the recommended dose. She is in compost with some fertiliser already though.

The leaves had been growing kind of like this before that too but not this much. Maybe it's just a characteristic of this strain?

Should I dial back on nutes? And should I keep or remove these particular leaves? Hope you guys can run your expert eyes over and help a brother out!! Many thanks ~

Edit: took her out of the closet and saw she was showing nitrogen toxicity all over. Flushed her and took off the worst of the affected leaves, hopefully she'll recover. I won't give her anything but plain water from now, for a while at least. The compost probably has enough in it for her, the added nutes were way too much
I was excited to see her purple colour coming through! Turns out she was mostly just a nasty dark green
:smoking::smoking: Live and learn! Peace dudes

Hello dudes!

Starting with the good, here are the Critical autos at end of week 5
Critical A:

Critical B:

And PKXL photo who I'm just mercilessly chopping back until the space is free to flower her out:
20200605_130249-1.jpg

And onto the bad, poor CBD Purple... she looks so sparse since I removed the horrible nitrogen toxic leaves. I don't think her buds will join up to make one cola now, she lost so much of her power. Hoping the early calyxes are ok and don't rot on the plant. She's halfway through week 7, see if she can recover:

And here's the closet overall:
20200605_131127-1.jpg

I fed the Criticals 1/2 dose of bloom nutrients, water for PKXL, nothing more for CBD Purp :smokeit:

Thank you dudes, enjoy your smoke this weekend :jointman:
