Photoperiod JD#1 (completed), page 5 Painkiller XL, CBD Purplematic, Critical

Those are some happy plants in flower, Faux! I love what's going on in your closet! I would clip a couple of those fans if they are blocking the lower bud sites though. Not a lot, just to get direct light on all buds.
Thank you man yes a little clipping was in order! I tried to avoid defoliation and leave them intact for longer so that they showed me what I should remove, rather than relying on my predictive powers. With a little help from AFN I think now was the right time to whip off a couple of lower sites and some leaf matter up top!

Weekly update time dudes :jointman: I'm stoked about these Criticals.

End of week 8 Critical A is still healthy. Her bud sites are really fuzzy with pistils, I hope the calyx leaf formation comes good too. She had one feed and two plain waters this week.

Big bad Critical B has many bud sites, I removed some of the lowest/weakest ones and just a couple of inconvenient leaves up top. She's extremely thirsty drinking every two days, 500ml alternating water and feed. I don't want to overfeed now so she'll get just water for a couple of times.

Her stem is so fat compared to her sister:

PKXL is way happier in her better spot under the LEDs. Growth is more robust and even. All the lower growth has been lost due to its bad health.

CBD Purple is gone and her harvest was a bust. Need to restock my CBD-only bud some other way. It's harder since 'rona.

Real hot weather in the Netherlands at the moment but temps in the closet are only up from 24 celsius to 26 celsius. Here are the ladies out while I cleaned the closet!

Cheers dudes! Happy growing and happy smoking this weekend :smokeit:
:note:

I don't really know the word I think it is trallace, I put something like this together for my space just using rubber coated garden wire. It was intended for when PKXL subsequently goes into flower but I thought heck why not help the Criticals out a little too with the spacing.

What sucks is one of the Criticals has almost a flat canopy, but the other has long vertical branches with bud sites way down into the heart of the plant. Those lower sites will remain underdeveloped unless I can stagger the harvest. The trallace won't solve this now but it will stop it happening in future grows.

Love the trellis, Faux! Looking very frosty on those buds!

Hello dudes, here's the weekly update along with a smoke report on Jorge's Diamonds #1 :jointman:

No dramas from the Criticals at the end of week 9. Critical A at the front is getting fatter and looking really handsome up top. The lower nugs are not as far along. She had one feed and two plain waterings.

The flash of the camera makes the buds look a lot more white than they really are.

Critical B has finally put the brakes on her vertical growth. She has a little turning up along the edges of her highest leaves. RH got down below 30% midweek so hopefully it's just dryness causing that. I gave them all a good spray like heavy rain. She had one feed and two plain waterings this week besides that.

PainKiller XL is charging in veg now. She's 75% sativa and it's showing in her branching. She's been alive for months so God knows what will happen when I flip her.

That's all for the weekly check in. A word on the quality of JD#1 now that she's matured in the jar. She was dried slowly and I kept a 62% boveda pack in the jar until the pack went soft. Her smoke got better and better with time, as it does. Such a special and delicious taste, so incredibly smooth in the vape, like butter, amazing. Scent of pine and orange candy, sweet but not super sweet, if anyone knows this candy called "parma violets", the smell is similar. The high is long-lasting but clear, not a particularly heavy hit, great for a morning smoke. My buddy agrees on the taste, we know our smoke here in the Netherlands and this beats out a lot of coffeeshop dope on taste. I definitely want to grow this strain again under these new LEDs. Here's what's left, I think this is about half the total... not sure where the other half went :smoking:

The only downside was obviously the yield because I didn't have a good set of lights. Nothing to do with the genetics, other growers pull ounces off her. To me it's a pearl of a strain!

That smoke sounds awesome, Faux! And what’s even better is you grew it! Congrats man. Those critical look like they will yield a lot better for you. Keep up the great work, man!

Thank you brother, I guess JD#1 is not really a fashionable strain to grow right now, it's a pity cos the taste makes you fall in love with the plant all over again. I'll give her a run under the new LEDs in the next year or two!

What's up Ganjor!! Yeah I think the boveda packs do a good job on the bud, keeps it dry enough to smoke and moist enough to stay fresh :jointman:
