New Grower I think I can.....I think I can

Hiya @Jan:) A bit late here , but subbed in for the grow.:pass::goodluck:

I used to use the paper towel method, funny about the toilet paper, i think on the Greenhouse seed company website they mention using toilet paper :smoking:

As a first time grower i used the soak in water then to paper towel method, i was later told to peg the paper towel on a spare dvd case so the root went down.

Now i go to water soak then to soil now, before that water soak to jiffy ( they filled too quickly)

You're not late at all. I cant seem to get started :crying:

So far I've had one peak its head out but that's all she ever did rip. I started some this morning doing it 3 different ways so we will see.

Time to get this party started :woohoo1:

•3 of 3 White Grape x Samsquanch OG are up by soaking for 12 hours and planting in coco.
•1 of 3 White Grape x Strawberry Nuggets is up by planting straight in coco
•1 of 3 *WDDG is up by soaking 12h, moving to paper towel until roots were about 1/2" long, then moved to coco

I also had some White Grapes that I left in water for two days. Most of them had started to sprout in 24hrs but while waiting for the taproots to grow the water and sprouts got a weird hazy/milky look to it so I tossed them.

*Not 100% sure what the WDDG Is. The package was only labeled "WDDG 9/18". However it was mixed in with all the packs labeled as autos so I'm thinking it is White Dwarf x Double Grape. What makes me question it is the White Grape pack says "(White Dwarf x Double Grape) X Double Grape" instead of just WDDG X Double Grape.:shrug:I just hope its auto.

The shells are still stuck to most of them but I'm hoping they all come off on their own.

Still working out kinks with my setup. With the exhaust off Its staying about 82° and 73% humidity with a damp towel hanging in there. With the fan running brings my temp down to around 70° and lowers my humidity substantially. I'm going to have to get some timers to exchange the air every so often.

How often does the air need to be exchanged? I've just been opening the door up every few hours lol. Is that enough air exchange at this stage?

into the brave new world! :yay: for thoze with helmetz still stuck on, jus keep em misted & they uzually work it off themselvez in 2-3d ;) ppp

You prolly don't need the extraction fan on. There's enough air exchange happening through pores and such, definitely if you're opening up every few hours. I'd focus on the humidity and forget the extraction fan for now unless temps are getting unruly.

@420Forever @oldnewbdude :thanks:

Also my qb120s arrived so just waiting on drivers. Wish I would have got the qb132s in 3k but I jumped the gun before I found out about them and didnt do my homework on spectrum. But it looks like if I add 16w of 660nm to two of these I'll have about the same spectrum as hlg's newest boards and give me 30w sqft in my tent. I'll be happy to put the mars with all the burnt chips to rest. Its had me worried but is still kicking it.

I kicked around the notion of building QBs but I'm lazy and my soldering has gotten sloppy in my old age. I think most of us will always be tweaking the setup and wish we'd done something different. They're gonna do just fine.

The type of driver I got u just have to plug them in basically. But I don't think they dim.

But then I ran across this, so I may have to solder the dimmer on. I have a friend who worked at General Electric for 40 years so I think she will handle that part of it if I ask.

You're probably right, a lot of these QBs and drivers plug in these days, minimal soldering if any. Always good to know a good solderer, my father is my go to if I fux it up. Could be because he's not as lifted all the time. Who knows.

I can solder. The problem I have is getting a good solder iron. I inherited this old beat up looking solder iron from my uncle when I was about 30. It had a wooden handle and fabric covered electrical cord. The only thing it was not good for was boards because the tip was too big. That thing would solder all day and never get cold. I used it for at least 20 years. It just disappeared? Maybe it grew legs and walked away :cuss: Anyhow I have owned at least a dozen different styles and several of each maybe more since then. All pieces of shyte compared to that old iron. I just bought another new Solder Station to work on my grow room control panel.
