New Grower I think I can.....I think I can

@Jan:) you can do it, you can do it :headbang: :smokeit: :woohoo1: :smoking: . Good luck on this new journey you're about to dive into

:pop:Subbed for the grow show! :goodluck:
:thanks:
Coco can be annoying but once you set it up, it's good to go forever! The benefits outweigh the cons and as a former dirty girl, I'll never go back!:crying: To my knowledge ppm meters don't need to be calibrated. They measure using a type current so will always give an accurate reading a bit like an electric ruler would. But I'm not too sure. Mine has never failed me but I really don't pay attention to it much. I always start at a low feed and increase little by little as I go up. I'm really not into micromanaging a grow! It's bad enough i have to measure potions with little syringe things!:baked:
Glad it's good to go for forever because it looks like I have enough to last that long.
Off to the races.............. zoom..zoom......................... It looks like you have the beginnings of your own medicine :woohoo:.

These are the seeds I started. I put them in a small Tupperware bowl with wet paper towels and put them in my Lizzys house to keep them warm. She's a fat tail gecko . I'm going to call this cross Chardonnay Stomper to make things a little easier.

Got my first gallon of buffer solution ready. 8ml calimagic to a gallon of water ph'd to 6.2. Seen alot of conflicting info on buffering so I hope I'm following the right info. Looks like I'll need about 10 more gallons :crying:

I’m in :pop:. Always good to see what new members can do. This is a great forum with many of the best autoflower growers. I’ve personally learned so much being here. Best of luck.

@hecno @mcpd_refugee glad to have you both here:cheers:

So I might be running a little bit behind. 3 of my seeds have already cracked open :woohoo1:

My coco has been floating in around 1500ppm of calimagic for the last 24 hours. I planned to double buffer but it's so time consuming I don't think I am. I've been stirring it every few hours :stir: so hope that will be good. Getting ready to wash it again and then will be ready to figure out what nutes to run through it for planting.
I am still pretty clueless at this point what I should be running back through it after I get it rewashed.
My options for this are clonex clone and seedling solution, recharge, fox farm grow, and calmag. Does anyone mind offering some advice on what I should use and at what strength? My well water is sitting at 130ppm.
:thanks:

I’ve never personally run strictly coco, so I’ll have to defer to others on how to deal with it. I‘ve also never dealt with the nutes that you have on hand, so my advice would be pretty useless there as well. I’m sure there’s someone around with the right knowledge, though.

I would personally start with a good inoculation of recharge, 1/8th to 1/4th strength ff grow, and 1/4th strength calmag. You can bump up the grow as they get bigger or if they look hungry. Look through the fox farm feed charts to get a better idea of what to do at each stage.

Well I think I've messed this up already :rolleyes1:

Checked on the seeds and my paper towels were totally dry. It also dawned on me that they were pretty exposed to light all this time.

I rehydrated and put my Tupperware container inside a tiny box. Pretty sure the ones that had lil tails coming out are done for but about half of them hadn't cracked yet so I'm hoping for the best. If nothing happens in the next day or so I'll start up a new batch.

@oldnewbdude Thank you so very much for chiming in!! I actually already ran some nutes through last night. I used RO water. I did 75ppm calmag, the tiger bloom (the npk seemed closer to what I read seedlings need), 2 drops of superthrive and the recharge. It came out to just under 300ppm. I read so many different things as far as where the ppm should be so I just took the high 600 and the low 0 and tried to hit the middle lol.

I dunno much about ppm and such. Wish I could be of more help. I'm lazy and just try to watch em and make sure they look happy. I just stay real conservative on the concentrations of nutrients and wash the coir like it's my job.

Ok I will get on my soap box:

Paper Towel Germination

I know that a lot of growers swear by it and their proof is the fact that many plants survive the technique but unless seeds are old or have been stored poorly soaking seeds is not needed and can drown them. Then because they need the instant gratification of seeing the tap root they germinate them in paper towels. If you look at a tap root under 200x magnification you will see the “root hairs” that grow laterally out from the tap root. These become the plant’s uptake roots. They will grow into the fibers of the paper towels and are ripped off every time the seedling is move or the towel is opened – ouch. Then when transplanting it is very easy to bump the tap root tip and damage it or kill the seedling – Why?

Put the fresh or properly stored seed ½” deep in a Rapid Rooter, Root Riot, rock wool cube or similar or right in the soil. Don’t use Jiffy peat pots the PH is too low. Keep moist – not wet, and ~78°F, 60% humidity with your lights running and they will germinate if viable. Most strains will germinate in 5 to 7 days. Some strains take longer than others. The African sativas can take 21+ days so be patient. 5 plus year old seeds require special treatment.

Ok off the box.
