Just wondering as my time is nearing and I have read different things on the subject. How do you all hang your goods to dry? If I have a fat cola do i need to cut it down to size for fear of mold? Does it have to be pitch black dark? I was planning on using a big moving box with strings run through it. Is it just as simple as hanging them with anything you have around the house.. and leaving them, no checkups needed?

I have a spare room with an old metal closet/cabinet that I hang my harvest in. I open the window, leave the doors to the cabinet half way open, and keep the door to the room closed. The RH hovers between 50-55% so I let them hang 6-7 days before jarring them. I cut and hang the side branching buds (if any) seperately from the main stalk. As far as the actual "hanging", I use thin soft wire to hang the stalks and buds from clothes hangers. I might check on them once a day to check RH and make sure nothing has fallen. Hope this helps.

Yea... I wish I had a spare room or closet. Im thinking that I might just have to put the box in the bedroom that has my grow closet. Humidity never gets above 45% in there but there might be little light leakage and I need to figure out some way to rig a fan into the box...and Im guessing I need another hole to let the hot air out with. But then again maybe I should sit the box in my bedroom, no real lights other than the glare of my tv, would that be better? Smell is no issue.

i haven't dried anything yet but when i bought my setup it came with a hanging basket thing that has like 6 levels.it maybe 18 inch diameter and maybe 3 ft tall. its made to be hung up on like a hook or under a closet shelf.only thing i was wondering is if the bud is sticky with resin, how much will be left on the mesh basket when the bud is dry? anyway thats probly what i'm gonna use
i originally thought you just used the grow tent with the lights off to dry in but that would be a waste ,it might confine your odors and humidity but,you sacrifice the time you could be growing more.
hope this helps..

I really didn't worry about light or darkness. The bedroom gets natural sunlight during the day and since I leave the closet door half way open the light gets in there but it had no effect on my goods. I've heard you should be cautious about having a fan blowing on your drying bud. I didn't use a fan at all.

@RSV1 sounds like we got the same deal. Mine is lime green. I put a fan about 5 foot from it and let it blow on low towards it too. then when it gets close off to jars or wet cure.

does the resin stick to the bottom of the baskets where the buds touch it?

I hang mine in the garage to dry. Have a storage loft at one end and have run twine across the bottom of the floor joists and then use spring loaded clothes pins to clip the buds to the twine. I have a stand mounted oscillating fan that I use on low. Depending on the RH and temp I leave them anywhere from about 5 days to a week and a half, then into tupperware type containers to cure. Temps are hitting the 90s here already so the garage will be getting too hot. So anything I harvest during the summer gets hung in the bathroom, again with twine and clothes pins.

Remember that they are still going to smell a lot while drying so take that into consideration if hanging them inside the house.

tbh... if your rh is 50... divide that by ten, and you will get five.. add 1 and you have 6... 6 is the answer you are lookin for... just sayin bro... dont wanna confuse anyone any more than some already get... lol... i get confused sometimes... 8)

At the start I used paperbags to put the buds in and hung up the bags in the storage cupboard but that meant that the buds were dented/flat from one side and unless one constantly roates them within the bag they come out with a flat side and it clashes with my sense for perfection. Sooooo, these days I take a piece of thin gradening wire, push it through the stem of the buds and hang them up on a coathanger. The main kolas or any large, densely grown bud, I take the time to bend the bud clusters apart so that air can reach around the bud prior to hanging them up.

I felt compelled to do it with the Low Girl:
