Grow Mediums HM Tries Kind Soil

Im still learning the basics is why i ask questions . just want to get thru this run, them im trying different soil . the nectar is supposed to be calcium based and i thought organic . ill keep reading , thanks !

I now have all the deficiencies under control. All I am getting now is natural yellowing of the fan leaves. I resortted to chem nutes to get things straightened out, but really that is what I know, chem nutes. I really started to feel like I was in over my head when the damn Ca and P defs started hitting right at the start of bloom. I knew exactly how to correct this chem style, so when the blackstrap molassis didn't stop the Ca problem, I paniced and went back to what I did know. I have ran out of my stash of rain water, so I am bubbling off tap water and lowering pH with lemon juice. I think there must still be a herd working down below, or things would look way worse than they do now. I cut off almost all affected leaves, and things don't look nearly as bad when you look in the top to check things out. A few crinkly tips and edges, but if it was showing any type of def or yellowing, I cut them off. I figure this late in the game, cutting those fans is not hurting a damn thing and it is letting more light down below the canopy. I will take a tent shot later today, can't get them out of the tent anymore because they are so large and somewhat intertwined, so they are in there until harvest. I am guessing two more weeks or so till harvest. Today is day 72.

I am not giving up on this KS. This was my first run ever going organic, and I did some things wrong that has contributed to my results. The KS worked very, very impressive right up until flower. I also threw some of the biggest genetics I have in my seed stock. I think if a person selected a smaller sized plant that would finish rather quickly, this could very well be a water only method. I have 5 lbs KS left, so I am going to dump the whole 5 lbs in the bottom of a 3 gallon pot, then top off with Roots Organic Original. I am going to plant a Mephisto Sour Crack and see how things go with a better strain selection. Now that i know there is great potential for Ca and P defs late in the grow, I will know to watch and possibly launch an offensive to help prevent the defs. I think if I would have started the blackstrap a little sooner, it may have very well taken care of the Ca def. I am running LED, and you can see the correlation between the Ca def right under the lights being way worse than the leaves off to the side and not directly under. I would have normally raised my lights, but they are at the top of the tent now. Damn 5 foot height has really turned into a problem. Worked great when I could not grow a plant tall enough for it to matter, but it just is not tall enough anymore. Don't really know what to add to get some P, I have read of beet root juice having lots of P, anybody try it? I am using Blumat drippers, and experienced some clogging with the blackstrap, so will be looking for a somewhat cleaner organic Ca source.

Anyway, this grow has not been a failure at all. If there was any failure, it was mine in not watching close enough to catch things in a timely manner. You should have seen my first hydro grow, LOL, it was way worse than this grow. Pics coming later now that I have things cleaned up a bit. Have a great day. Peace out.

OK, here are the pics as promised. I do have to say, that after trimming about a hundred or more dead or damaged leaves, they really don't look too damn bad. The buds really need to swell the next couple weeks to bump this up to a good sized harvest. The buds look good, but the biggest ones are really only about as big around as my thumb. This is day 73, which is right at the breeder listed days to harvest, and normally buds would have been over twice as big around. The trichomes are starting to cloud up some as the buds are taking on that certain "aura" you can notice with naked eye. I think the AU cross is going to finish up first, at least a couple weeks yet. The NLXBB looks to be a little longer. She has taken on a more sativa type growth. Does anyone know the genetics of the old Big Bud? Was it a sativa or indica or cross? Anyway, here are the girls, let me know what your think. Peace Out.

Started a new pot cooking today. Going to run this one as per KS instructions with 3 lbs KS in the bottom of a 3 gallon pot and topped over with Roots Organic Original. My seed order should be here in a week or so, so by the time I get my Mephisto Sour Crack germinated, it should have at least a couple weeks cooking to get soil micros awake and multiplying before I drop the germinated seed. I plan on supplementing with TLO teas along the way. Got to get some organic Ca/Mg because I know the LED will sap it up.

I feel like my last grow, the plants stretched forever. I got to thinking that maybe the way I just mixed the KS and Roots together, this might have been right on the edge of too hot and kept my girls in veg alot longer than normal. Hence the overstretching. Maybe by following the recommended method, the plants will grow most of their veg stage in the Roots and tap into the KS only as needed right in time for flowering. You think I would learn to follow instructions after all these years. LOL  Instructions are my last resort just before total failure.:crying::face:

I have only grown hydro before, and normally my buds get as big around as like golf balls or so, do organic soil grows normally get larger buds than what I got in my first KS grow? I am assuming they do and that my Ca and P def was the cause of my puny flower development. Is this a correct, or without bloom boosters, etc, do the buds only get this big? Looking at pictures really don't give a good perspective of the girth of a cola, so just asking a dumb question.:weed:

Well this grow is quickly coming to an end. I plan to harvest at least the AU cross on this coming Thursday. May take both depending on how the NLXBB progresses. Both plants started fattening again after I got the Ca and P defs corrected. Certainly not as big as they could have been, but have developed into a respectable harvest. I will take pics as I progress through the harvest so everyone can see just how they turned out. I am exceited about my nexat KS grow now that I know "a little" more about how this organic growing goes. Had my new pot cooking for a week now. Thought my seeds would be here by now, but with xmas, mail is slow. This sub par harvest is going to put my stash into a little bit of shortage, so the Mephisto Sour Crack should come ripe fairly fast and will get my stash back to normal. I will have room for one more plant besides the Sour Crack. Thinking a hydro run with a strain that has a genetic large plant potential. Never dreamed the NLXBB would get so tall or I would have LST at least and probably topped her to keep her inside my 5 ft tall tent.

That's a good question...I think next grow I'll go with at least one strain I've grown before so I can get a comparison. (Who am I kidding; I'm just worried about running out of Sour Crack!)

well with my one plant that I did not use as per instruction I got double golf ball sized buds all over it. but with my soil I get that all the time. KS only once. all other grows with it essentially failed.atleast in my book it failed :) try the KIS soil, or the 2.1 mix. imo you'll be way happier and youy can mix the KS into the new stuff at a ration of a cpl three gallons to each 1CF or 1.5CF which is roughly ten gallons depending how ya use soil. so it'll swallow a whole 5LB bag of KS within two standard bags of something or twenty gallons of any good recipe wili eat it up. like the 2.1 makes 20-22 gallons per pack for autos. lol

Harvest day for the (NLXBB)XAU, Day 88. Looks respectable, I have certainly done worse before. If this would have been a first time or so grow, I would happy as a lark with this turnout. I am disappointed with the size of the buds, but they are hard as rocks so hoping for a quality over quantity type of thing. Here are pics.
