I now have all the deficiencies under control. All I am getting now is natural yellowing of the fan leaves. I resortted to chem nutes to get things straightened out, but really that is what I know, chem nutes. I really started to feel like I was in over my head when the damn Ca and P defs started hitting right at the start of bloom. I knew exactly how to correct this chem style, so when the blackstrap molassis didn't stop the Ca problem, I paniced and went back to what I did know. I have ran out of my stash of rain water, so I am bubbling off tap water and lowering pH with lemon juice. I think there must still be a herd working down below, or things would look way worse than they do now. I cut off almost all affected leaves, and things don't look nearly as bad when you look in the top to check things out. A few crinkly tips and edges, but if it was showing any type of def or yellowing, I cut them off. I figure this late in the game, cutting those fans is not hurting a damn thing and it is letting more light down below the canopy. I will take a tent shot later today, can't get them out of the tent anymore because they are so large and somewhat intertwined, so they are in there until harvest. I am guessing two more weeks or so till harvest. Today is day 72.
I am not giving up on this KS. This was my first run ever going organic, and I did some things wrong that has contributed to my results. The KS worked very, very impressive right up until flower. I also threw some of the biggest genetics I have in my seed stock. I think if a person selected a smaller sized plant that would finish rather quickly, this could very well be a water only method. I have 5 lbs KS left, so I am going to dump the whole 5 lbs in the bottom of a 3 gallon pot, then top off with Roots Organic Original. I am going to plant a Mephisto Sour Crack and see how things go with a better strain selection. Now that i know there is great potential for Ca and P defs late in the grow, I will know to watch and possibly launch an offensive to help prevent the defs. I think if I would have started the blackstrap a little sooner, it may have very well taken care of the Ca def. I am running LED, and you can see the correlation between the Ca def right under the lights being way worse than the leaves off to the side and not directly under. I would have normally raised my lights, but they are at the top of the tent now. Damn 5 foot height has really turned into a problem. Worked great when I could not grow a plant tall enough for it to matter, but it just is not tall enough anymore. Don't really know what to add to get some P, I have read of beet root juice having lots of P, anybody try it? I am using Blumat drippers, and experienced some clogging with the blackstrap, so will be looking for a somewhat cleaner organic Ca source.
Anyway, this grow has not been a failure at all. If there was any failure, it was mine in not watching close enough to catch things in a timely manner. You should have seen my first hydro grow, LOL, it was way worse than this grow. Pics coming later now that I have things cleaned up a bit. Have a great day. Peace out.
