Just got done preping my pots. I used two 3 gallon pots. I ordered 5 lbs of KS and split the order into two 2.5 lb lots. I put the 2.5 lbs into the bottom of the pot, then filled the pot to the top with Roots Organic Original. I then dumped the whole pot into a large tub and mixed and mixed and mixed. After more mixing, I filled the pots back up about half full, I put a 16 oz solo cup in the center and continued to fill in around the solo cup. Once full to the top, I removed the solo cup and filled the hole with only Roots Organic. I cut the rim off the solo cup about 3/4 inch down, and pushed the ring into the medium to mark the plug location and prevent the KS mixed soil from contaminating the Roots Organic plug. I will leave the ring in place until my seedling has established, then I will lift it out.

I will be planting a World of Seeds NLXBB auto in one pot, and a (NLXBB) X AutoUltimate in the other.

I run Mars 300 old styles at 180 true watts, one over each plant during bloom. 20 on, 4 off.

2x4x5 ft Lighthouse Hydro tent

220 variable speed exhaust fan with carbon filter

two six inch oscillating fans inside tent.

I've never done organic before, been all hydro up to now. Looking forward to learning a new technique and experience the organic side. I am sure I will need some explaining to along the way.

Seeds are germinating right now, I will let you know when they pop.

Everyone is welcome here, just no bullshit or drama allowed.

Interesting method of using the kind soil. I'm interested to see how this goes my friend!! Grow on brother [emoji106]
I decided on this after pouring through the commune and any other info I could gleen. Thanks to @Eyes on Fire and his multi method testing, I decided to use this style with the larger strains. Would have went with 5 gallon pots and 3 lbs KS, but had to utilize what I had on hand.

:headbang: Right on HM, thanks for joining and testing for yourself! I think you'll like what you see,... EoF has a great handle on this, and next time I use KS, I'll be doing something similar, even for the photo's... I'm still in the Test Thread, with Grimm, as we are running photo's with our testing... I've found that some of my Sativa leaning strains (big Acapulco Gold, Flavor Grape), and a couple others (Kalishnapple x Sw. Tooth, Green Angels) seemed to find the KS a bit too rich; I had some roasted tips for several leaf sets before it cooled off, after they started delving deeply into it, not initially though... I did some blending right at the transition zone, but not deeper,... The water pH'ing is good advise from KS, but i did find that initially, I didn't need to because it lowered soil pH too much... but after a month, the water hardness started to influence things (pH 7.4, about 160ppm)... citric acid is great, easy to dissolve, and very little needed-- like 1/8 tsp/gal to get me about 6.6... I just used the stuff for canning, considering how little ya need! A can of the EJ stuff is basically a decade's supply+! One of those color-drop pH kits is nice and convenient for this, save you nice meter for more exacting work- .... you using a Si supplement?
NLxBB is a nice strain from what I recall- :greenthumb: Rebel grew several, and got fat phat buds!... I'm looking forward to seeing how your set-up in-pot works out- :goodluck:... have a rump :slap: to get your horse out the gate in a fart-cracking hurry!

Waira, my good friend, thanks for looking in, please hang around for the grow. I have always been a hydro guy, but the promise of ultra great tasting med is hard to turn away from. I know that this will be a very learning process for me, although I have a pretty good grasp on biological interactions within a soil. I've grown the NLXBB out before hydro style, very niced shaped medium large girl. The (NLXBB) X AutoUltimate was an accident and this is my first grow out, should be a jumbo, it will be interesting how far the KS will take her. I see someone in the commune is currently growing a couple AutoUltimates in KS, will be monitoring that grow close. Used rain water to prep the soil, don't have a big supply and rain has been short lately. Will probably try to get by with RO as I have endless supply. My tap water will literally burn your eyes from the chlorine and/or chloramine. Tried using it in my early days of hydro and had nothing but problems until I switched to RO. I can buy citric acid in the canning dept at the store, is this basicly the same thing as the Earth Juice Crystals?

Tested some rain water out of the barrel today, 14 ppm and 6.4 pH. Started filling gallon jugs to save to use over winter. The stored rain water should stay good I think, anybody know? Keeping it in cool dark place. Hoping to get enough jugged up to get through this KS grow. Also ordered a couple Tropf Blumat Sensors to automate the watering. I see @Ozone69 is having great success combining KS and Blumat drippers.

rain water can stay good for a cpl weeks or more if i remember right with a small treatment(i forget off the top an algecide ,even iodine ) but moving the water ,and even tossing a bubbler in it a time er three over the course to recharge it kinda.but moving water is the key.covered.opened too breath, similar'ish to soil and that'll stay good a bit man.especially if its warm out and your using it a little fast. or ID growing too. it'll keep for a good bit. clean , mesh inlet, filter to use,and moving, and air.thats the way if stored or transferred in larger barrels of 30 gallons of so.larger cisterns are different , gotta be pumped out in holding barrels, tanks.clean, and treated for larger water storage. but Im not a hydro guy but I would think for longer storage it would be similar. since I do rain water.well, not this year but I usually do.LOL! few days,to a few weeks,to several months, all depends.

Both of my beans have popped, and now lie buried about a half inch below the surface of the Roots Organic Original only plug. The pots I used are wick fed self watering pots. Check out my THC Bomb Journal for the down low and pics of the pots. Filled the reservoir with rain water and will wick until my seedlings emerge from the soil. Have ordered a couple Blumat drippers and will incorporate those into this grow after seedlings show their heads. I would leave one pot to just wick throughout the grow, but I know from experience that the wick can not keep up with enough water when the big girls start their heavy drinking. I was trying to figure out how I can use my Accurate 8 moisture reading to dial in the Blumats, anybody using the Blumats care to chime in?
