Time for the weekly update Day 28 the Heavyweight Monster Profit girls are doing rather well. The Indica genetics really showing through with broad leaf structure and short internode spacing. A pleasure to grow so far. It was hard to choose which girl to represent me in the Heavyweight grower of the year as they all look pretty even. The four on the left are the HMPs.

Well here we are at day 29 for the girls. The Monster Profits are doing well and received their second training prune this morning. They are exhibiting beautiful indica traits with big broad leaves and short internode lengths. Each plant has been trimmed to stimulate 8 main colas per plant. I am using Nebula Haze's manifold training method. The SCROG net will be installed soon to assist in holding the plants upright since the tops can easily outweigh the Hugo blocks.

Day 33 for the girls. So far a real pleasure to grow. I have added the scrog net for support; I do not intend on scroging but some will naturally take place as I spread out the branches. I bought these Fiskar long handled grass shears to see if I could reach the back of my garden to defoliate. It looks like they will work ok as long as I go slow. The head rotates changing the angle of approach. It will be easy to cut a branch accidentally since they have a lot of leverage. I wish they made smaller heads for these but at least I can now defo the back plants.

Nice grass shears . Seems like the girls will be screaming for help in no time :crying:.

But I get it, it's a bummer when you don't have full access from all sides to your grow space :pighug:.

In other news, girls are looking great.

Before I built this space I spent hours modeling it to fit the area I had to work with. 3x8 would have been more suitable but it just would not work with everything else that had to remain in the room so 4x6 is what I ended up with. 3 foot arms with a 4 foot reach = a problem. I will post how these work as the grow proceeds.

Lovely!

@[URL='http://www.autoflower.org/members/manogreen.35589/']Mañ'O'Green -- can I just double check with you how you top and work them?

You first top at the 4th (?) node, right? Removing all the other laterals and leaves.
Then you grow out those top two laterals, topping again at the 3rd (?) node?
But you also take off the laterals and roots at the 2nd (?) node,
leaving in total two main branches, which each have 4 laterals --
two laterals from the 3rd node of each one, and two laterals from the 1st node of each one?

I'm going to Google "nebula haze manifold training".... :p

There are several manifold techniques. I am in a little bit of a hurry and Nebula's is faster than others. I wanted to grow Photos this round and got a bit of a late start. This method still has great yield with 8 main colas and can show a plants genetics well. If I had more time I would use a method that gives 12 main colas but takes about 2 weeks longer in veg.

I am hoping that my far red lights will cut a week off flowering time. I turned them on last Wednesday. They run for 15 minutes at lights out. They help initiate the stretch and flowering. I will flip to 12/12 this Wednesday. You can use far red 730nm in different ways but I just want to speed along flowering now that the plants are about 40% of the finished height I am looking for.

I have used them for autos and they seem to shorten the overall grow by a few days. Hard to tell because there are so many variables.
