New Grower Grunt's Third Grow

Update 5/8/18 Day 23 Sooooo early still :smoking:

Just wanted to update that the Quick One is showing pistils at multiple locations. I thought I could see tiny swellings coming on Saturday, but had not really looked again until just now, and there they are. I can see the swellings coming on the N. Lights and Kush as well, about a quarter the size of a BB, maybe. Kinda whitish looking where the swelling is happening under the outermost layer of tissue. None on the Jack yet though.

Looking good grunt.. if your kush is anything like mine, she'll take over your space.. very vigorous growth and much higher than advertised.. I ended up getting a bigger tent and she still filled most of it :pop::coffee: will be interested to see how all yours go

Thanks @Avalanche Blanch, I'm hoping a couple of them take over and force me to invest in a better light that really covers the 3'x3' area! I want something that covers 4x4 with ease just to ensure good even coverage of the canopy. Been thinking maybe a P450 Platinum, or a Perfect Sun Goliath possibly, but oh so spendy! The Dwarf Star I'm sure would even be plenty sufficient. Anyhow, glad to have more people onboard for this journey, and hopefully the future ones as well. I'm going to read yours on the Lemon Haze right now cause I love me some Haze plants!!! Happy growing!

Update 5/9/18 Day 24

Both Northern Lights are showing pistils today, stoked to see who will be next. Guessing it will be the Jack Herer as she is starting to get a bit stinky, but only time will tell!

Update 5/10/18 Day 25

Jack is now showing pistils, and hard to say on the Kush, but it looks like there are some minutes ones just starting to push out in a couple spots. The plants all got watered yesterday, half strength Nectar based on the mid-vegetive table PH'ed to 6.2. They also all got their hair cut and some bondage adjustments. I even topped the Northern Lights in the middle small pot. I will foliar spray them later just before lights out. The N.L. in the small pot also appears to have some yellowing in the veins that I will address momentarily. I suspect it is because this planter got left over seedling mix with all the goodies in it, except I had run out of Azomite. So, I just top dressed some in with a chop stick and will water it in next time, as this plant got watered yesterday. The Northern Lights that had the broken stem has healed quite nicely, but I think the wound slowed her down a bit more than I wanted to admit initially. She still smells lovely and looks pretty healthy though. The Quick One is growing at a nice rate, and she seems to really like growing on her side, can't imagine what happens in another week or two with all the growth tips popping up to the light. The Jack is growing really nicely as well, growth tips are getting long enough to have multiple nodes, and she also seems to really like being layed down flat. The Kush loves being bent down as well and has nice new growth popping up. I left a couple fans up top on this plant, so it looks goofy compared to the others in my opinion. I am planning on topping this one in another day or two so I left the adjacent fan leaves to help those growth tips get going a bit more before cutting the plant out above them. Clockwise from top left is Kush, Jack Herer, Quick One, Northern Lights. NL in the middle as well.

I did some more training today, basically did a very mild supercropping to help bend the stems where they need to be on all four plants, it is really amazing what a very small amount of manipulation can do to open the plant center to light. I broke one growth tip off the Northern Lights doing so, but it happened in the right spot to just be an accidental topping, so I guess that location gets two smaller buds instead of one. The Northern Lights in the small pot is loving the topping she had. Note to self, top the NL plants, don't try and bend them. The Kush on the other hand is almost perfect and too easy for LST. She is like gumby and just bends into whatever place I want. The Jack is very nice and easy to bend and pull on as well. And the Quick One is living up to her name, new node growth on top is building with lots of calyxes spitting hairs out everywhere, very nice plant so far and excited that she is nearly halfway done already. Have fun growing everyone! :pass:

Looks like the quick one is treating you well brother,i just updated my journal and thought i better come check in with urs. All urs are looking amazing bub, have you looked in to cobs from @BigSMo I doubt I ever buy any other lights again that dont have a cobshop logo on them. Keep it , I'll be following this run til the end. Keep training the quick one she will reward u greatly for it.

Thank you, I keep trying to pull them all open and get light in there every chance I get, they get bushy and start filling out so quick it's an almost constant challenge to keep light on the stem. I might do a grow of nothing but Quick One's this fall, see how good this stuff turns out! I saw how chunky yours is getting in your journal, I got my fingers crossed for the same!

And I have looked at the Autocobs and I am not opposed to them, but from what I have read I think the lack of heat they produce would be a hindrance to me come winter time. Is it true they put out way less heat then equivalent LED lights, or did you not use a non-COB style panel before the Autocobs? They would definitely let me utilize every precious inch of real estate I have in the tent though. I love how you can hang them individually wherever you want, makes them quite versatile. Decisions, decisions!

Update 5/15/18 Day 30 RQS Quick One

I saw some other posts that are done individually by strain, so I am going to start doing my updates that way as I have four different strains. This one is just for the Quick One. She is definitely a drinker @midIN thanks for the spot on advice! She also loves to be trained out flat. The pic from above almost looks like a little Christmas tree laying on its side, so you can see the structure quite easily, in my opinion. I made more clips and tie downs out of the soft wire ties, have to get more when the store opens before continuing training on the other plants as I ran out. I think I will be using this strain for the 2 Liter grow competition as it is living up to it's name thus far. Not much else to say except that I have been doing more frequent and slightly smaller waterings with 3/4 to full strength Nectar and the plant just loves it. I am also giving a daily full strength foliar treatment of The Kraken, which will end as soon as the stretch slows, then it will be administered only as soil drench. Also giving foliar of Bloom Khaos on Mondays and Thursdays, which will end at same time as The Kraken, and also be added to the soil drench moving forward. The only problems I have seen still are the small splotches where I got sloppy with the feed and some slight leaf tip twist from the growth tips getting up into the more direct air from fans, as it only shows where they were directly in that air, so I'm pretty sure it is nothing more than that. Good grows everyone!

Thanks for checking

Thanks for checking in on mine, shes really drinking now up to 2gal every 2 days almost, she just keeps getting chunky, and with the cobs since I already use leds and switch to cobs couple months ago I only noticed a 2degree cooler tent with them, the heat sinks do get hot, they won't burn u of course, but I use a fan to blow their heat around and I was able to keep the temp at 75-76 a lot easier, and RH floats at 50-60 depending how bad it is outside of my house, but I can keep it at 52 if I wanted to. For me in my 2x4x5 tent old led would float heat from 65-85 even in winter with a small heater in the room it's in, now with cobs I'm able to control that heat within a degree or two of 75, yes I could close vents and raise it more but my best growth is right at 76-78 with 50-52 RH. I hear u on the running several quick ones at a time, I was on royal Queen last night reading reviews and all I wanted to know is what are these people doing because mine is spot on to what they list as the top end of this strain and then some, I have 10 more beans and after Checking out several other autos by them I now have several of them, from Royal, also I will do what u are doing next time i run her will use lst way more I barely used it and paid off big time, every good journal I found of her they all used some to heavy lst and got huge results and they all were at the top end as well. Bub I really hope u get the chunky girl like I got, glad someone else is giving the quick one a chance to prove her worth, I will always run royal Queen and mephisto beans at least one each time I set up a new run, keep it up bub I'll following like a hawk. Lol PS she will explode also if u give her a good flush with just water about every 10-13 days if you can. Just little hint for ya. Happy growing.
