Yard and cage girls update
  • Well everybody's In Bloom now. All the girls are looking real well healthy I am battling a little bit of p.m. right now. Using plant therapy presently. It's working well it's keeping it pretty clean application about every 3 days. For the time being anyways I'm sure it'll com down to where I won't have to spray too much at all. but right now it's comes back about every 3 days. Been having some rain recently so it's harder to keep it back when we have moist weather.

    Northern land finish season.
  • The Northern land doesn't look like it did a few weeks ago. All the green of the grass and the leaf's of the trees have all turned brown n dead now.
The mama bear and her three Cubs have moved off sometime in September. The camper now sits alone and the Harvest is all in. Snow now cover's the ground.

Looking back to before the harvest to when the green of the tree's and the grunts of the she bear with her cub's were moving through the forest. Listening to the song birds and the wind blowing through the tree's. So peaceful.

Made several trips up to the NL for the Harvest. I had two others who came up to help me with the harvest. We harvested for 24 hours. We took only the tops in the first stage of the harvest. I then came up 3 more times alone, and I harvested each time a little bit more, but only the mature buds until the frost came. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it for the very last harvest to catch it before the frost came in hard. So what was left got frosted then turned brown. I have yet to smoke that bud, not sure what it'll be like. ?

The harvest at the northern land was much less yield than what I expected from this plot of 12.
I blame it on the lack of Sun shine during the month of late June through July all the way into mid August. Pretty much the whole summer was very bad up there for Sun shine and outside growing. The whole month of July I had only 11 days of sunlight and that was over casted with smoke. Hell the rain n fog was enough but then the smoke from the fires out west in California, Washington state, and Canada. All covered Northern Michigan for a long time. There was a few times when I was driving to the north that I come across what I thought was frog crossing the highway but come to find out it was actually smoke from the fires. It was so thick.

So doing a two or three stage harvest has proved to be beneficial on a few plants strain. The sage n sour, chocolate mint og, fire og kush, Skittles, wedding cake, strawberry sour D, all did well with higher yields with two stage harvests. The sage n sour and the Skittles also the wedding cake benefited from another 3rd harvests.

What I learned from my experience growing in the northern land. Other than the lack of sunlight. That was out of my control.

So what I would do different ??

I will make my holes more fortified with new soil.
I will line the plant holes with a perforated tarp with drainage holes tarp. Putting the new soil in the tarped hole with old pumice ( rotting wood log pieces ) in the soil to hold moisture. I will add a 55 gallon water drum to each plant site with the battery operated Garden watering timer to each plant so each has its own water source.

    Thanks AFN

    Yard and cage grow final
  • Hey AFN :smokeout:

I Had a mostly good harvest from all plants but 1.

The Good The Bad and The Ugly.

The Sensi star was a complete loss I wasn't able to harvest anything off this plant. The mold the powdery mildew in the bud rot got to it before I got to it. And it was a complete loss. I expect that it was about a pound and a half of loss. a big plant Had very big buds on it and it's mostly liked in this region. The Sensi star from up North gave me about a half a pound little over of pretty good smoke and I've been smoking on it pretty good. but it's definitely the loss in the cage was complete and utter failure. It's still stands in the cage dead and brown along with the rest of the crop that I didn't Harvest. I did do a staged Harvest on all plants except for the Sensi star. So they're still plants out there with trikes on them and buds but I I already have 2 25 gallon totes that were Plum full didn't need anymore.
    THE BAD.

Black sugar is a good plant at least the smoke is anyways. Smokes pretty damn good it kind of reminds me of smoking good weed with molasses somehow on the side:what?: I don't know how to explain it :shrug:but it has a real old smelling molasses. if you've ever let a jar of molasses get old n hard it's got that after smell when you open the jar. That's about it.
I'll have to add the rest of the crop in the cage in this category.
The strawberry sour d, sage and sour, Wi-Fi, Granddaddy Purple. These plant's were all problematic they all contracted p.m. and had to be treated constantly throughout the grow. Except I had a very hard time fighting the p.m. in this grow. The grow was a lot of work when it came down to the powdery mildew. Those of you who have followed my threads before know that my region is just Laden with powdery mildew and I cant get away from it at all. Very few plants that I grow don't get it in this yard. The wedding cake that I grew outside the cage in the yard got it a little bit but it didn't get it very much. And that particular cut seems to be a good cut. I still got that cut and growing it right now inside.
But the Fire og kush in the cage did get the pm but was able to fight it off pretty well like the wedding cake. This plant FOK it got it but the Lost Coast Plant Therapy is a great product and helped it holds it back pretty well on all the plants. But when the plant's get close to the end of time. These plants start losing their immunity to things. The powdery mildew is just so for lack of a better word thick as hell in my freaking neighborhood. There's not a damn thing I can do about it.:doh::cuss: The Ugly

The Fire OG Kush and the Fire og kush HB S2 that was grown between the house n garage with only 4.5 hour's of full sunlight a day at the peek of summer. Both did very well. Although they both did contract the p.m. neither of them got it very bad. And was able to treat them normally as I would normally in this yard with the threat of p.m. everyday. Anytime the wind blows. LOL shit.:yoinks::shrug:
These 2 plants were definitely my queens of the yard. The Fire OG Kush from big head seeds a plant that was at its tallest point around 8 feet + and was wide by 9 1/2 ft by 9 1/2 ft. This plant gave me a very nice yield harvested of AAA bud of 2 pounds and a little bit of larf. The smoke from the Fire OG Kush in the yard and in the cage is exceptional.

The Fire OG Kush HB S2 this is a seed from the second time around hence the S2 that's from the plant from last year that a friend of mine gave me hence the HB which is his name. Seed from the year before that from a seed he got from a dispensary in Grand Rapids from a bud that he had bought there. The plant that I grew last year was the S1 seed and that plant was mostly like the plant that I grew this year with the seed from big head seeds of Fire OG Kush.
But the FOK HB S2 was big 10 x 10 wide 8 ft tall. She gave me a hell of a harvest of almost 3 lb of AAA Smoke. But the quality of smoke come to find out. Itt isn't as good as I would like but the judge is still out on this one. As I've mostly smoked only the lowers and not the upper buds. It kind of reminds me of older strains not as strong but yet still tasty. The bud's are mostly tite dank but not all of them.
It's hi is probably around the 14% or 15% t h c. The flavor was kind of piny and some Earth. Pretty sticky had a very strong trike count. But most of us that have been partaking of it have not thought it to be very strong. And so this will probably end up going into the butter or oil to make edibles.

    Started the 2022 inside/outside grow
  • 1/15/2022 :toke:

The guy I work for part time head inside grow somewhere in the vicinity of around 70 plants right now two different flower rooms in a green room. We just installed a third flower room and eventually we're going to put in a small Nursery in Green Room. So he gave me 15 clones that he couldn't use this time around. And I was reluctant to take them cuz I'm not really ready to start anything right now it's still a little early for me cuz I wasn't planning to grow anything inside. But the Plant he give me are fine producing plants. The last to harvest they're pretty consistent with Dank buds pretty good high and flavor. The one cut of wedding cake especially wanted because it had a strong resistance to the mildew in my yard grow outside and up north. Plus the outcome was very tasty.

He gave me 10 Modified grapes - 25, 1 Wedding cake, and 4 headband plants.
    I put 6 MG-25 and 2 Headband's in the
    flower room.
I Kept back 1 MG-25, 2 headband and the 1 wedding cake for mothers.
    I gave 2 MG-25 to my neighbor.

    20220118_060950_HDR.jpg

I was going to run these plants in aeroponic system this year but I lost interest in it and didn't complete it. So I bought a bag promix added amendments to it lacking worm castings I'll add some later.
I mixed Promix HP with a half a bag of fox farm ocean Forest and a half a bag of foxfarm salamander mix. Then added potash bone meal blood meal humic acid gypsum urea Dolomite lime and epsom salts to the mix.
Stirred it all up real good added some clean fresh water the moisture in the soil up real well and put the Clones down in it. Five gallon fiber pots. The Clone mothers that I started are all in 25 gallon pots with a different mix a little hotter with a lot more dry amendments in it for long-lasting grow. I don't want to mess with these plants for a while. These parts should last about until June.
    20220119_110401.jpg

It's a bit chilly out here for these girls around 62 degrees. Should help keep their growth from getting too big too fast. As it is still pretty early yet to start doing anyting I don't really want to start doing anything until like the end of February first week or two in March.

And one of them got snapped twice I snapped at the other day and forgot to take a picture of it. Growing to fast. One of the headbands plants.

    34 hour's after super cropping
  • Snapping the necks seem to be doing pretty good. they all seem to enjoy it they're coming back nicely. one of the headbands seems to be having a hard time with getting all it's strength back to the snap neck area but it'll come around soon.
I plucked off a few big sucker leaves and spruce them up just a little bit. I'm trying to keep this grow on the kiss system.
