Granddaddy purple 6 day's after major trimming event
  • The Granddaddy Purple had ravaged bad this year. I'm inserting the upper post of the Granddaddy Purple before trimming.
So this was a bit of work. So the Granddaddy Purple from Ken's Originals. It was my mother seed plant so I took a bunch of clones off from this plant. So it was going to grow funny anyways and I expected that. Because of all the branches that I cut and made clones from all of those would be a split branches. I knew I'd have lots of branches on it...but the damn thing Re-veged. And through branches and little single leaves everywhere. Damn nightmare to freaking try and trim out the way it was. Now it's compounded by revegging ugh.

I gave all the girls in the yard Garden and the cage 5 gallons of aerated rainwater each. And each of the potted auto girl's got two and a half gallons of water. I have one other potted girl that is a wedding cake expensive cut. From The Farmer I work for. It's pot ( I don't have a picture of ). The soil in that pot is a new mix for me and I had too much clay in it. It holds water well but it doesn't allow the roots to flow and it was very hard hard. I haven't watered it in about 2 weeks. It took a minute for that water to soak in. The next mix I make of this type will have at least a third less clay in it. And I'll try it again. But the girl is very healthy looking. I'll have pics of it next time.:vibes::cheers::pass::baked:

  • The cage is filling up  the girls are all looking well. But the black sugar is looking better. She not the best looking plant Ive seen. I think she'll do better after flowering starts. She'll need another trim or 2.

Out to the farm lollipopping and trimming
  • @hecno click to open. For whatever reason yours didn't open up when I posted and I can't seem to make it open up but there's a message there for you

I love your thread ,you are always up to something interesting , don't know about the bears , The biggest thing I get is wild cattle ,

    Thanks. @hecno
    :toke::cheers:
I try to stay busy. I love growing the weed man. :hump::woody::greencheck:
It's something I found that I'm pretty good at.
I do have a lot going on this year that's for sure. This is as many plants as I've ever tried to run by myself and or for somebody else too. I guess in total I'm responsible for 36 plans to my own and 24 plants of his. But he's got a wife and a worker that do a little bit of work in the outside garden.
So I'm sure after they watch me a few times they'll be out there doing what I do too and cutting me out eventually as time goes on. That's how it usually works.:baked:
BEARS!!! Yikes. That is a terrifying thought. I'm glad your thread got bumped. I really like looking at all the pictures you post. That space is amazing. I'm seriously jealous. You do suberb work as well managing all those plants. I see a couple of them have proper trunks, not even stems any more!

    Thanks @DCLXVI :toke::cheers:

I know right the bear. Yeah it's kind of freaky to me too. But you know I'm kind of from the woods and the farm. But where I come from we had a lot of animals. But we didn't have bear. So it's kind of a new experience for me. But I'm not naive to the Bears whatsoever. I'm very cautious of them as I've never experienced an encounter with one yet. But I am well-versed on what to expect. I've ordered pepper spray bear spray.. I don't carry a gun but I do carry a spear with a short handle and a Long Blade on it. It's really the only defense I have other than machete or am I bladed gas trimmer.
I don't really want to kill the bear if I don't have to... but I will not be it's lunch either.:what?:
I guarantee that if it attacks me it's going to get hits just deserved. And will definitely not get it's lunch for free. I avoid her area at all cost but those Cubs will be curious here before too long. And all I can do is try to keep away from them if they decide to come into my area.
Over the weekend on Sunday night they had a When Animals Attack bear episode and it showed a lot of stuff on there with black bears brown bears and people telling about their stories. Definitely watched all of that.:bong::eek1::pass:

Out to the farm where I work at part-time.
The farmer he's license to run 144 plants. He has the inside Harvest last week and the week before. Where we harvested about 46 plants total inside of the wedding cake strain.
At harvest we take the leaves off the stem and leave the buds on. Then we put them in large dryer boxes. The boxes have circulating fans in them and Screen shelves that product lay on. After a few days of being in the boxes or the hanging nets for about 7 day's. Then we come back out and D buck the mostly dried buds from the stem. After D-bucking all we come back through and Final Trim. That's his process and that's how we do it. At the farm. :pass:

So after the Harvest. I had to go out and lollipop and trim up the outside garden girl's where there's 24 girl's in the ground. ( A recap a little bit on the weather) we just had a terrible season this year. The whole month of July was there was only about 11 days of sun and the rest was overcast and rain mostly rain and the smoke from the wildfires out west. That have really put like a gray film over top of the Skies here in Michigan.
The farm girls are really starting to come back now that the sun has been out more. The farmer hasn't been watering like I prescribed him to do. The plants are a little bit behind because of that as well. So I watered deeply while I was working the girls. It helped them to spring back.
So they were looking pretty good when I was out there Saturday the last. About 6 hours after I was done and I took a few pictures.

So it took me about 12 hours to trim all these plants. I trimmed for AAA flower. That's where I take the first 2 bud nodes off on every branch to almost the top and all the very smallest branches and Bud sites off on every single branch and remove any branches that are maybe big in some people's eyes but they really won't produce a whole lot and I take those off as well. This Fosters massive growth towards the buds that you want to harvest. This allows all the nutrients to go where there really needed them to go and not have any little buds that you really don't want sucking up any of those valuable nutrients
So if I was trimming for making concentrates I would leave a lot more of the bud sites on and be taking off just the big hand leaves and suckers leaves. Where in this process for AAA bud we take all those little tiny buds sites off as well and small branches and branches that are in between small and the big ones. If that makes sense to y'all.
I know I know some people don't believe in trimming... but like any fruit tree " you have to prune for the best fruit"...
Now that's done I won't have to come back out here now to the farm for probably another 3 weeks thereabouts. I expect some time around the 15th that we should really see bud sign on everything in the garden some plants will show a little earlier and some plants will show a little later. Sometime between the 9th and the 15th we should see bud sign solid on the whole garden.
when I'll be coming back in 3 weeks then Ill just be taking off large leaves and few of the smaller bud sites that didn't develop biggly lol:crying:from this trimming.
It should be a very good harvest. We will be putting Nets on these as well over top of the cage.

The plants didn't grow too big this year and that's probably going to be a good thing. Less chance for the p.m. to settle in and a little bit easier to manage.
But I sure wish the Sun and Rain would have cooperated mother nature would have gave us some really nice plants.
    I like working big plants.

    Trimming at the northern land
  • I was up to the northern land last week and did some trimming, but not much. It seems that the water conditions up there weren't that great while I was gone. So I spent three days up their watering everyday and give the girls a total of 15 gallons of water a piece. So from the last time I was up there to this time the plants really didn't grow very much in that 7/8 days...in fact there was very little change at all. They were a little bit bigger a little more leaves on them but really hadn't been that much change of any significance. So I left them pretty much alone as far as trimming or manipulating this time And just gave them water.

I changed up my watering to not use the wicking method at this time.
I didn't like how slow it worked. I need to come up with a way so it works faster cuz it did work, it just was extremely slow, too slow for what I need done with the crop up there. But there may be other types of material that would flow better than the material that I used.? I may have constricted the Rope too much coming out of the hole that didn't allow it to flow properly I'm not sure without more experimentation.
So what I did today filled the 6 gallon cans up and laid them on your side and open the cap up just slightly so it dripped and with drip for about a day before I ran all the way out. So the moisture in there came out slow got into the wood chips and that should hold moisture for a few days.
It's been raining in the northern land day before yesterday for about 11 hours. As I can see this pretty good on my camera that I have installed there. And the weather radar confirmed that it rained a long time. So I'm not going up this week but I will be going out next Monday depending on again how much rain we get between now and then up there. As we are supposed to be getting rain or chances of rain all week here and up there.

Harvested the autos as the northern land
  • Harvesting the autos at the northern land. It may have been a day or two premature for the dragon fruit. But the 42 fast bud purple punch and strawberry banana we're right on point. I hadn't planned to come back up there for a few days so I took the dragon fruit anyways and it may have been only about two days shy maybe of being Prime. It had plenty of opaque in Amber to make anybody happy though.

    Yard and cage Garden overgrown
  • The yard girls and the cage girls have overgrown there areas by quite a bit recently. So another trimming session has been due for a couple of days. As I have pre flowering sign here now. This will be my second to the last trimming and will be my last major trimming for the season. From this point on it'll just be a leaf plucking here and there and possibly super cropping a branch here and there because of space restrictions.

    Finish the last major trimming.
  • Finish the last major trimming on all the plants in the yard Garden and cage.
So they're pretty thin. I did trim for AAA bud. I had planned on keeping more Bud sites earlier this year. But I don't really have a good source for making concentrates any longer like last year I had a good source to make concentrates and this year I really don't, The guy quit taking orders.
So I might make some press rosin and maybe do a little bit of BHO. But for the most part just AAA flower this year.

The northern land has been getting pelted with rain. Every night for the last 3 nights has gotten some kind of rain. Last night was a serious storm Frontage that went through. the wind was so strong that it blew water into my camera.???
The winds were gusting at upwards of 60 miles an hour. Cam's out right now. Had a low 4g signal or no signal this morning. So I'm nat able to see the girl's. To see if there's any damage. The little while at it did fired up early this morning I was able to see my camp area and it looks fine. But then it went out. ?

    Northern land
  • Was up to the northern land over the weekend on Sunday. The cameras back working again.
The crop at the NL... for lack of a better word Ugh ! It is about 50% of what I thought it might be. The plants are less than 50% of the size of the cage and yard girl's... of the same strain...

Just a total lack of SUN.

Watered each plant with 18 gallons of water. 12 gallons of water over a. Of about 6 hours and then 6 gallons of water in the drip tanks. Also additional 2 1/2 gallons of Budswell and Mother Earth Bloom tea......
Not too optimistic about the crop from up there at the northern land. Some of the plants seem to have grown pretty decent up there while others didn't grow too much at all and just seem to be going through the motions so to speak. I think there's probably several reasons why lack of sun being number one, and the other being that I didn't bag my holes so I have a quick leaching of water and nutrients into that sandy soil.

    So here they all are.
