Indoor Growing Scrog

Had to zoom in and have a close look at those busted knuckles. Whew. Gonna be tough doing that the first time! Would be neat to see a video of you performing that operation. Do you massage them into compliance first, or just go for it?

Come to think of it, this was the part of the 420 method that worried me the most. Wonder if that might be a partial answer to your mention that there have not been that many takers, at least so far?

My new seed to harvest on IG has more detailed info and a good way to learn.
Thank you, I will check that out, I am still in cleanup and building a stand for my 4×8 flood tray. I plan to link 2-27 gallon totes as my rez. I already have flora nova bloom but only the 2 part coco grow so far or Mega Crop to start with. My first run I tried to reverse a 3 bears og × mango smile, that project failed. I just aquired 10 more seeds of this same strain so I can attempt to reverse it again. I can say the top I took at day 15(before i knew to lay it down instead of topping it) rooted. I only got 3.5g from it but the effects are exactly what I want. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I might be wrong but what I’ve been told is that for me to apply for a trademark the 420autoflower method would have to be a business. I was considering switching to a business account on a couple other platforms awhile back but heard from other members that there’s always a risk of my account being deleted if I changed due to cannabis content.
You need to have used the requested trademark in commerce, or prove intent to use. Many trademarks are granted before products get out of R&D or services are actually offered, and to indivuals. It's already been used on AFN. But to make certain, use it more prominently, such as title of a Web page or in a marketing piece, such as an announcement, advertisement, etc.

At one time and maybe still, US trademark office was refusing to grant marks obviously related to illegal use of Controlled Substances. A lot will depend on the classification (field of use) you apply for. You should be able to get a mark as a generic agricultural method/process.

But what would a trademark be used for? Other than maybe selling videos, books, product endorsements, etc., I don't see what can be sold, commercialized. Regrettably, the method/process is not patentable.

I get the feeling that you may be a perfectionist when it comes to your scrogging.

OK, Im getting my new system together

8 plants of autos are going in early flower , I scrogged them a little late because of the system setup start and missing parts, so I scrogged them I quess in the start of flower and they had starting of pistils in the top parts of the nodes, not only in the middle of the lower branches.

Im running temps 23-24c and humidity about 55-60rh, planning to take it to 45 when in midflower in a about a week from now.
Keeping temps 21c in the reservoir.

I quess they are in start of flower week 2 now, dont really no how to say.

So im using wilma drip feed, right now feeding them 15min x 7 times a day 24h lights on. EC 1.8-2, lights are hortimol 600w, and maximum power at 50cm so i guess about 800-900 ppfd. ( waiting for the diffuser to arrive to get exact figures from my phone app).

I have to admit I messed up the wilma feed in veg 1-3 weeks, this is my first Wilma grow or any big grow. I had them on only hydroton clay pebbles and were feeding them 2 times a day, which wasnt enough ... dumb me, but that was wilmas clay pebble instruction... and the ec was also too low, so it really stressed their growth, changed them to hydro 40/coco60 in veg 2-3wk and feeding 5 times a day and the veg time was something like 7-8 weeks all together, they started to really grow after a couple of days stunned after the medium change and optimal lights and nutrition.

Rockwool 4x4 my starting medium is inside the hydrococo, maybe nxt time keep it on top of the main medium.

Most of them are topped and had LST also, which im thinking I wont do next time only coat hangers, and the preflower defol and scrogg ON TIME....

I updated today 6 pieces of under canopy lights bloom plus 90w, and took the pics

Now my setup is:

8 plant wilma drip feed
6 x under canopy lights 90w
2 x 600w hortimol main led lights
1 x hps 300w main light

Also I have 2 far red lights than I am planning to start in upcoming days.

So I could say this is a learning / training grow because im just starting this bigger growing scheme with the scroggs.

........

I also got myself dutch passion orange auto critical punch seeds, and trying to also get speedrun auto granite haze seeds for my upcoming grow in 2 weeks which im strating in a different veg tent with another 2 x 4 part wilmas, so I can get them in the flowering room when my learning grow is put in the veg tent to dry, and the new vegetative ones to preflower scrogg in the flower room.

........

So what have I learned this far..

- Lots of medium stuff, ec stuff, lights stuff and mistakes on my part.
- Scrogging needs to be done earlier
- Will only use like 2 different strains next time speedrun, and dutch passion Im thinking 4 and 4
- Also I dont like these big holed scroggs that I got, maybe should have gotten ones with smaller holes.
- Im not expecting big results with the extra hps on in the middle , and the far red light but lets see....
- Maybe Im separating the 8 plant wilma reservoir to 2 x 4 reservoir in the flower room, I have a 1 x 4 plant wilma in the veg and have to get another one there, maybe just do it myself , and get it cheaper.
- Streching the nets to maximum widht in the middle next time with side frames to it, maybe Ill get 1,2m from now 90cm
-Vegetative LST in plants done so that it will fit my nets better.

These pics are like start of week 2 flower, defol done too late, 9 days ago and 8 days from the start of scrogg.

.............

The 2 scroggs are like 2,4m x 1m each , and are not streched maximum at their width could have gone like 1,2m im thinking about rescrogging them in the next defol in 1-2 weeks from now.

- What do you guys think is it to early to start with the under canopy lights, in the start of 2 week flower ? should I start them later

- How about my rh 55-60 right now is it too high ot low and how about the temps 23-24c ? Im planning on lowering it to 45 maybe a 1-2wk from now.
Im keeping good airflow under and in top of them and putting more of them upcoming weeks.

Did you have some links to cheap good grow lights ?

How did your second schwazz go and how long did it take you? Any updated pics?
Hey brother 👊

I don't have any as impressive before-and-after pictures as you do, @420autoflower, since I did my heavy defoliation gradually over the course of a few days. I also wasn't comfortable enough to perform a ‘real’ schwazz. Still, I ended up removing an insane amount of foliage. Sometimes it's tough for me to gauge just how far I should go with the defoliation. I can’t always tell if certain leaves are really just large sugar leaves that shouldn’t be removed.

The first big session, between the first two pictures, probably took four to six hours of defoliation—at least. In the following days, I kept removing leaves almost daily for about 30 minutes at a time.

I implemented downlighting on Day 61 aswell.

One week later. D61. Still a lot of fan leaves on the late bloomer (bottom left side). I'm removing those aswell. Aiming to remove almost all fan leaves. Maybe will leave some on the side, which doesn't take away any light from bud sights.

You've got it going on, those buds are mature enough for you to take the remaining large fans off. Even if they don't block light, they'll be consuming energy which you want diverted to your kolas.

I get the apprehension, my first few times stripping was never enough. You really can get brutal with these autos. My goal when using this method is to aim for a 1lb a plat dry yield.

Beautiful setup Brother!
Love how you have the top of your buckets at table height. Never seen anyone do that before. Definitely easier on the back.
Obvious you’ve been around the block a few times. 😉

:yeahthat:

You’re very welcome @Mongoose!
Always learning different ways to grow weed and happy to share them with everyone.

Lol… I didn’t even notice that until you pointed it out.
:crying:

Comparable!
My SCROG grows yield close to the same amount as my SOG grows.
Got a little carried away germinating my new run and have more than I need so I’m thinking of running a small SOG with the leftovers.

Thanks for the info!

Looks like you’ve done your homework @Mongoose !
I soak my 1.5” starters in 6.0 (250ppm) feed and the 4x4” cubes in 6.0 (350ppm) feed.

Ok to insert new seedling into 1.5” starter with a 1/4” tail and a thin light layer of rockwool on top

Fertigating 2 times a day is fine for the first 20 days of life but then bump it up to 4-5 times around day 21-25 if everything is going how it should.

Sorry! I should have some type of tutorial put together by now but never expected so much interest. Been posting these grows for a couple years and my buddy @DOA has been the only one that expressed any interest in learning up until just a little while ago.

The second net will not be needed if you your canopy is manageable.
How is everything doing? Were you able to pull the middle down a bit more?
Pulled all of them down today on the net and did a heavy second defol at the same time.

here is before

IMG_20241209_221822.jpg

I have the second cheap ordinary plastic net not the nylon, but didnt but it on yet since the pulldown was semi successful.

Also added 2 support colums for the net

here is after

What do you guys think did I do the 2 defol too early, I did it because I put the scrog lower at the same time ?

1 heavy defol and scrogg 25.11 was late 1 week flowers already developing on tops.
2 heavy defol 12.12, all the lower fan leaves, some of the upper fan leaves on the ones that had good sugar leaf production and some buds already

Now I read somewhere that that 2 defol should be done more lightly. :)

When you supercrop like that yeah you want to gently crush the stem with your thumb fingers and yeah, kind of massage it and work it in to place. You dont just wanna start snapping stems lol.

For particularly thick branches, you could also consider using pliers wrapped in tape to protect them. I used this method myself for the toughest stems (I saw 420's pliers in a photo somewhere here in this thread.). Even then, I was extremely cautious.
