Indoor Growing Scrog

I'm using distilled water and anticipating that I'll need to start adding in some CalMag fairly early on aswell?
If you opt to use the GH Flora Nova Grow this already has calmag included. No need to add anything, just keep the ppm/ec in the correct range and the ph at 6 through out the grow and you'll be good.

I landed a good auction deal earlier today on another of the farmlights, the 260watt
You must have got it dirt cheap then. :d5:
Great lights for the price!

OK, Im getting my new system together

8 plants of autos are going in early flower , I scrogged them a little late because of the system setup start and missing parts, so I scrogged them I quess in the start of flower and they had starting of pistils in the top parts of the nodes, not only in the middle of the lower branches.

Im running temps 23-24c and humidity about 55-60rh, planning to take it to 45 when in midflower in a about a week from now.
Keeping temps 21c in the reservoir.

I quess they are in start of flower week 2 now, dont really no how to say.

So im using wilma drip feed, right now feeding them 15min x 7 times a day 24h lights on. EC 1.8-2, lights are hortimol 600w, and maximum power at 50cm so i guess about 800-900 ppfd. ( waiting for the diffuser to arrive to get exact figures from my phone app).

I have to admit I messed up the wilma feed in veg 1-3 weeks, this is my first Wilma grow or any big grow. I had them on only hydroton clay pebbles and were feeding them 2 times a day, which wasnt enough ... dumb me, but that was wilmas clay pebble instruction... and the ec was also too low, so it really stressed their growth, changed them to hydro 40/coco60 in veg 2-3wk and feeding 5 times a day and the veg time was something like 7-8 weeks all together, they started to really grow after a couple of days stunned after the medium change and optimal lights and nutrition.

Rockwool 4x4 my starting medium is inside the hydrococo, maybe nxt time keep it on top of the main medium.

Most of them are topped and had LST also, which im thinking I wont do next time only coat hangers, and the preflower defol and scrogg ON TIME....

I updated today 6 pieces of under canopy lights bloom plus 90w, and took the pics

Now my setup is:

8 plant wilma drip feed
6 x under canopy lights 90w
2 x 600w hortimol main led lights
1 x hps 300w main light

Also I have 2 far red lights than I am planning to start in upcoming days.

So I could say this is a learning / training grow because im just starting this bigger growing scheme with the scroggs.

........

I also got myself dutch passion orange auto critical punch seeds, and trying to also get speedrun auto granite haze seeds for my upcoming grow in 2 weeks which im strating in a different veg tent with another 2 x 4 part wilmas, so I can get them in the flowering room when my learning grow is put in the veg tent to dry, and the new vegetative ones to preflower scrogg in the flower room.

........

So what have I learned this far..

- Lots of medium stuff, ec stuff, lights stuff and mistakes on my part.
- Scrogging needs to be done earlier
- Will only use like 2 different strains next time speedrun, and dutch passion Im thinking 4 and 4
- Also I dont like these big holed scroggs that I got, maybe should have gotten ones with smaller holes.
- Im not expecting big results with the extra hps on in the middle , and the far red light but lets see....
- Maybe Im separating the 8 plant wilma reservoir to 2 x 4 reservoir in the flower room, I have a 1 x 4 plant wilma in the veg and have to get another one there, maybe just do it myself , and get it cheaper.
- Streching the nets to maximum widht in the middle next time with side frames to it, maybe Ill get 1,2m from now 90cm
-Vegetative LST in plants done so that it will fit my nets better.

These pics are like start of week 2 flower, defol done too late, 9 days ago and 8 days from the start of scrogg.

.............

The 2 scroggs are like 2,4m x 1m each , and are not streched maximum at their width could have gone like 1,2m im thinking about rescrogging them in the next defol in 1-2 weeks from now.

- What do you guys think is it to early to start with the under canopy lights, in the start of 2 week flower ? should I start them later

- How about my rh 55-60 right now is it too high ot low and how about the temps 23-24c ? Im planning on lowering it to 45 maybe a 1-2wk from now.
Im keeping good airflow under and in top of them and putting more of them upcoming weeks.
From what I can see in your pics everything you’re doing is working for you Brother!
Hard to flatten out 8 plants in such a long span with nylon scrog net without getting a bow in the middle of your canopy but it looks like you got them scrogged out just in time. Is there any way to install a couple more uprights on both sides of your tray/table to attach your netting so you can pull down to a lower level? Even a couple free standing posts in the middle on both sides would work if you can’t attach to your table.
You’re in your preflower stage so a little early for under canopy lighting but would be good in 2-3 weeks from now. Temp and R/H are spot on and no need to bring it down into the 40’s until mid to late flower. Your uprights are tall enough to where you could easily drop another net over your canopy and spread your girls out even more.
Thanks for posting and please keep us updated.
Started with D soil sensor from wintopcom
Stuck it in below of the rockwool in one auto
Started reading the parameters with the meter:

FLOWER 1-2WK
TEMP INSIDE THE FLOWER ROOM 24C, RH 54-58%

Sensor in Reservoir:
- AN connossier bloom part a & b
- AN Big bud
I put something like 13ml a, 13ml b, and 8ml big bud in 10litres of water

EC ( Gives a reading of 8000 us/cm = 8 EC, but when I check it with ec meter its 2 EC, so it gives an error reading when directly in water)
PH 5.7
TEMP 22
RH 70 % (maximum setting)
N 1500 ppm
P 2000 ppm
K 2100 ppm

Sensor in medium during feed time 15min, wilma blue drips every 3 hours : ( sensor below the rockwool 4x4, hydro / coco )
EC 3.2
PH 5.7
TEMP 22C
RH 68%
N 900
P 1600
K 1800

After 3h, before next feed
Sensor in medium feed time 15min : ( sensor below the rockwool 4x4, hydro / coco )
EC 1.7
PH 5.9
TEMP 23.7C
RH 47%
N 430
P 800
K 900

.................

Plants are doing fine but I think my feeding liquid is too low on N so next day im giving it a bit more grow liquid read that it should be more still, but there are so many diferent nutrition advices for flower 1-2wk. im like having something like 1-2-2 with only bloom nutritiens.

Also starting to get to know more of the medium EC some say it can be around 2 all the time, some say it can be at 3 even when not feeding.

My RH lowers from about 70% which in this meter is maximun to 47% and then feeds again, I dont know the specifics but I think this is ok, not too dry because of the heavy drip feed program the medium doesnt get to go to 30% easily.
Any way they are intaking half of the nutes in 3h dont know what to make of it accurately, have to investigate more :)

Feel free to comment....

Your numbers seem high.
This is the EC/PPM chart I go off of

OK, I'm biting. Will be my 4th grow, first three were all-water hydroponics, 3-4 oz yields,
GH trio nutrients, RO water, CalMag, Silica. Rig is in progress, will hand-water for a bit
to have time to build a support table, larger reservoir etc. 420's method, unless he's a Russian bot and his images AI generated, has to be a no-brainer. ( Where are the smiley face icons? )View attachment 1720570
Looking good Bro! 🫵
Nice clean setup! Expect to easily double and possibly quadruple your yields with your first 420autoflower scrog. Some big pieces of cardboard with white paint or cheap mylar sheeting taped or stapled to it would be great to lean up against the sides of your frame to get some reflection.

My thoughts were the same in the beginning, but it's actually not a no-brainer. Canopy maintenance and training in general are way beyond other methods, imho. Also, you really have to know what you are doing. Brain involvement is definitely needed, at least in the beginning, to learn this form of art and plant cultivation. Hehe, please don't get me wrong—I still love the work and the 420scrog method.

At first, I kept asking myself: Why isn’t everyone growing like this? And: Why isn’t it done on an industrial scale?

Some possible reasons could be: Without restrictions regarding the number of plants or general growing space, other training techniques might be more suitable because they require less manual labor. Additionally, you can’t work with clones, since this method is done with autoflowers. (But could be done with photos aswell I guess, but they won't perform as good since 12hours of light during flower instead of 24hours).

But for private growers, especially those limited to a small number of plants, this method is wonderful. It’s also perfect for growmies who love high-performance gardening and pushing their plants to their limits.
Just my 2 cents. Happy to hear other opinions aswell.
:astar:
Well said my friend! :headbang:
The method is definitely not for everyone. Might not appeal to commercial growers but great for us home hobbyist that like to try new techniques and think out of the box.
Can we see how your schwazzing went? :eyebrows:

Hey friends, I'm stoked to report my Autoflower seed has germinated today! It's a Strawberry Clouds Auto by an Aussie breeder, goes by Blowout genetics. Anyway I'm going to do my best to replicate the 420Autoflower scrog method here and I'm pretty keen to get this right! So a few quick questions 🤔: I'm at Day 1 watering the starter cube with distilled water pH 5.8 about 10mls a day.

Question 1: When to start adding nutrients and what EC to start? I noted in one of your reddit posts 420A, that EC starts at 0.7 – Finish at 1.8. (EC 1.3 by day 10 until mid-flower).

Question 2: I've soaked the 4 inch rockwool cube today in distilled water pH 5.8 and have that ready to go and also have a packet of Mykos mycorrhizae ready to add. When should i pop the starter cube into the 4 inch cube with the mycorrhizae?

Question 3: I'm new to these larger rockwool cubes and am a bit frightened to over water. How much do I water the 4x4 cube? I've noticed this 4inch holds heaps! Should I water until i start to see run off?

Thanks heaps in advance my friends! Happy Growing!

:thanks:

Glad you found your way over here @TristanTheDestroyer!
You should be feeding 0.7EC (350ppm) right off the bat and bump the nutrient strength up to 1.3EC (650PPM) by day 12-14.
I use a turkey baster when I fertigate new seedlings and feed once a day even though the 4x4” cubes always feel soaked. Go ahead and water to runoff and no need to worry about over watering.
I drop my Grodan 1.5” started cubes into pre soaked 4x4”s right after my seedlings sprout.
Calmag won’t be needed if your base N-P-K already has some in it. The General Hydroponics FloraNova Grow I like to use during veg has some already and I’ve never had to add any extra. Might want to look into an inexpensive and easy to install countertop R/O unit if you want that quality H2O.

Thanks 420!

Reflections will be from white shower curtains hung from the rack.

Since you mentioned reflections …

I live in a tropical climate, whole house AC is required most of the year.

When I first started growing 6 months ago, it was clear that
heat from the lights at higher dimmer settings was going to make
the entire endeavor difficult and expensive.

I happened to have bought Migro Aray lights for a 2’x2’ tent. The bars
were too far apart for my situation, for all of the grow.
I got Photone + diffuser, and was amazed the
difference near-proximity reflections made — big jump
in PPFD. So I first made DIY spacing brackets for the lights, of various lengths,
and second, plywood moveable reflecting panels. I also cut holes in
the tabletop to suspend the 2 gallon buckets from, for closer proximity
to under-canopy reflections. I get through veg ( LST with wires/ties
and a near flat canopy so lights can be only 5” above )
at 40% dimmer, 50 watts per light, with a bit more PPFD than is
generally recommended, and through flower ( with plants ~16”
in diameter ) at ~1,000 PPFD across the canopy, with
60% dimmer, 75 watts per light. Near proximity reflections
made growing practical for me.

Super clean!! That should make working on those girls so much more pleasant! Great setup!

Thanks King. Yeah, I'm 68 yrs old, and although lucky to be fairly nimble at my age, crawling around in a tent on the floor weren't gonna work for me for long. I am fortunate to have closets I can use. I built the grow table with a $12, 2'x4' piece of particle board, some white paint, and cheap IKEA table legs, on wheels. I have a barely formed plan for the 420-Method® closet too. ( Would insert a smiley icon here but the available icons are kinda' whacky. )

By the way, I have been studying cannabis propogation assiduously for 6 months, starting from zero. I wish I could remember how I stumbled across 420's thread here, because his work/info and willingness to share is over the top the most useful. Mille grazie ( a thousand thanks ) 420!

I love the R for the registration mark, a nice touch , I don't know even how to type that out :crying::crying:

Highly reflective lighting cards for those without hanging sidewalls

Amazon, 16 times more reflective than bright white cards (EV<13 vs EV<9).

I used these on my last grow, tabletop 3 plants. No scrogging because I didn't yet know about 420autoflower breakthrough methods. Building frame for hanging shiny sidewalls and his techniques, next grow in January.
