Indoor Growing Scrog

Hey @greenauto!
Have you scrogged any of your autos yet?

Yes sir, I did! Yesterday the time has come. Tried my best to follow your technique.

At the beginning I was nervous, to fuck things up regarding super-cropping and all that high stress training.

Here is my result. Thanks again @420autoflower for sharing your knowledge / technique etc. and helping us out here. :worship:

After defoliation. Also, I did not remove too many leaves because of laziness and carefulness, since lack of experience and not wanting to mess up.

~12 hours later. Re-arranged some few branches for better distribution. And tucked some tops down again. All suppercropped mains survived :d5:

Fantastic work Brother! Glad all your mains survived the HST.
Great job on the pre-training too.
Nice full canopy with plenty of cola/bud sites.
Will be nice to watch everything develop in the next 6-8 weeks.
Thanks for sharing! :toke:

Roots were coming through the bottom of the 4x4" cubes a few days ago so it was time to get busy. Spent a few hours prepping Grodan 6x6" Hugo blocks, Grodan Grow Cubes and Cloud Coir coco. Soaked everything with 650ppm of General Hydroponics FloraNova Grow, General Hydroponics Rapid Start, GH Floralicious, Clonex Solution and Mycos with the PH set at 6.0.

Aren't you at all worried about the algea on your rockwool?
And another question..:
When do you start letting them grow vertically again?
  • I'm still keeping most of my thick tops down, trying to stimulate the plant to send more growth-energy to the little tops (and some even tiny), which are in the middle of my plant right now. So that they have the chance to keep up with the other ones. Some of them already got good growth.
  • I'd suggest, once they all have ~ more or less the same height, I stop bending tops down and let them grow naturally again (except leave tuckings here and there and major schwazzing-sessions during mid to late flowering).
I just hope they still have enough time to stretch after that.
Thanks :toke:

PS: Thanks for the points 420 and Mossy. Still figuring out, how they work and If I'm also able to send points. :2cents:

Doing a reset after cleaning up from my first harvest and plan to try this method. Question is if I use a 4×8 for tray I just acquired would I run into to many issues? I have most of the groblocks and and some pumps to setup the feeding and the coco bags for under the blocks. Any advice welcomed

I would think the purpose of the flora flex and plastic collars on the newest pictures is to limit light exposure to combat algae growth – so presumably 420 cares about it, but I am interested too in hearing his own take.

I've also pondered what kind of functional contribution to the system algae brings. Most often algae is said to (possibly) compete for nutrients, affect pH, affect availability of oxygen in the roots, promote pathogens, constitute a risk for pump clogs, etc. The interaction of roots, mycorrhizae and algae together must be quite complicated and is beyond my comprehension – would be interesting to know if there could also be some synergistic positive effects. But as the adage of this thread goes, the proof is in the pudding: it seems possible to grow monsters while having a decent amount of algae (even if they did have a negative impact in the end).

Hey, does your method work for photo plants as well?
Yes it will Bro! Even better!

@420autoflower have you ever tried scrogging rocs auto purple bastard eater? Would be interesting to see what happened, The stems are very malleable..
Never have @Tom Bombadil! :nono:
Who breeds those seeds?

The algae isn’t a problem and actually acts as natural sun protection. lol.

You can stop tucking and weaving after your preflower stretch.
Please post updated canopy pics when you get a chance. :eyebrows:

Nice to know you’re going for it!
Your 4x8’ tray should work fine if you have uprights to attach a net too. Are you planning on scrogging in a tent or open space?

You got it Brother… the Flora Flex collars will reduce the algae growth around the 4x4” cube but I’m mainly using them for esthetics as the algae has never been a problem for me.
