Indoor Growing Scrog

Ive also found that leaving the original stake in place, and then adding more stakes or ties helps with this, once you have at least 2-3 working together to hold the top down, you can start removing the oldest as you work. Hope this helps
Nice! That's an excellent tip, thanks @KingRatt ! So if I keep that main stem horizontaI as I can by using multiple stakes over a few days I can achieve a 90 degree bend at the trunk. Got it, thanks! Sorry to keep asking, Should the side branches at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, ect nodes be staked down aswell until the SCROG net goes down? Thanks for this, I appreciate the advice 🙏

not sure. youre doing autos? And the whole 420method? I think the way @420autoflower does it is he keeps the top tied down and lets all the branches grow tall, then when he drops the net, he super crops everything at the net level and trains it all outward from the center. I guess it really depends on genetics. In my photperiod scrog i dropped the net the day the branches were tall enough to train under it at the level i chose, which was pretty low, right where the main stem is bent over basically. Then i just use the net and a few ties here and there to keep everything under the net! Flip to 12/12 when im at 75% canopy coverage and use the next couple weeks to train the plant to fill the canopy, then let all the topps grow upwards again!

Edit: if you are doing autos and using the 420method, then timing is very important for every step and i suggest re-reading the thread from the beginning where he explains all the steps in detail!

Thats so awesome!!! Right on, @420autoflower !!!! I think they did pretty damn well!!!
I think so too @KingRatt!
He knocked it out of the park on his first run.

Got it! Solid advice my friend. I think that could be a good idea to split them up and run 4 SOG and 2 SCROG, that way we could see a potential yield comparison between SOG and SCROG? What size tent would you run the 4 Auto SOG in? Thanks again @420autoflower 🙏

Well done @lihis Awesome result! Super impressive! And well done to you @420autoflower , I love this ☺️
Yes… should be a good comparison Brother. 😉

Here they are in a 32x60x84” tent before I split them up.

And these are the 4 I picked for the SOG in a 3x3’ tent after I leveled them out.

Day 31.

Tristan, I made a short wire harness that keeps just the very top horizontal. Main stem is way too thick to bend anymore.

Questions ...

1. Routinely remove fan leaves that block new stem growth?

2. Looking through your posts both here and on Instagram, 420, I found initial scrog days of
41, 45, and 50. So scrog day all depends on first signs of pre-pistils?

3. Pro tips on best way to attach and tighten the net at the poles?

Thanks!

Great job with the LST @Mongoose!
I see a couple big fan leaves that are blocking nodes to the left and right of your main top that could be tucked or plucked but other than that she’s looking fantastic.
Best time to scrog your autos is about 7 days after you see your first pistils. That’ll give you enough preflower time for your small/weaker nodes to grow and stack, but not too much preflower time where they’ll get too tall and pressure you into rescrogging. If you scrog too late and dont have enough preflower time the middle of your canopies will have a hard time filling in and might leave you with some bare spots.

I try to leave my stakes in as long as possible.

When I attach my netting to tent poles I use green gardening wire on all 4 sides and pull it as tight as I can with leaving an extra row on 3 of the sides. After I have my net nice and taut I’ll secure it with zip ties and remove the gardening wire and use it to attach the extra rows on the 3 sides to give me more areas to tuck.

This might help

I have seen wire ties used but be careful with pressure on poles(had a buddy that hit poles collapsed) I plan to re-enforce my poles with pvc
Good idea @Gr8racr!
PVC would work great.
I need to do the same thing.
The Vivosun tent expanders I’ve been using reinforce the poles pretty good but they’re made for only certain size tents and won’t work for my 32x32” tents which I use most.

When you train with the 420autoflower method all you need is a slight bend at the tip of your main top, and when you want to flatten them out with the 420 method you should gauge where your branches will fall to create a nice round/full canopy, then apply HST as far down as you can, and at the same level.

yep, Auto, first time 420method. It's my first time with Rockwool, first time LST and HST and first time with a SCROG net too so I'm resolute there'll be mistakes made but as long as I learn along the way, I'm happy and determined to keep trying.

Nice! I've noted that down, thank you!

Very cool! I cant wait to see how your grow goes!

Is it possible to over water these rock wool blocks?
It's possible to over water anytime and even easier with rock wool - need to keep eye on it That's why I like soil -- soil is forgiving were did you get those watering "circles" - might work well with soil (Just found your journal) GREAT Grow for Auto flower plants

Hey Hawk, not my journal. This is @420autoflower thread he may know about the "circles?"Maybe Floraflex caps would be the only thing I can think of.

Thanks millions for all that great info 420, both tops tipping, and securing the net! You saved me hours of head scratching with the net advice!
