Hey all!
Just wanted to post a followup and show off how nicely these ladies have recovered and scrogged out. I'm tucking branches every day, the left one (Blueberry Bang Bang) seems to love it and is becoming a nice little bush of it's own volition, the right one (Gyat) is being a little more difficult with an abnormally thick main stem.
The trick for using pliers for supercropping is an awesome recommendation! No chance I would have been able to manipulate the Gyat main stem without breaking out the power tools lol.
Thanks again
@420autoflower, I don't think I'd ever have gotten such a nice and low canopy if it weren't for all of the information you've posted!

You’re welcome
@LibreLoud!
Happy to know the info is working for you.
Your plants are filling in nicely!
Basically impossible to flatten out your canopy that low without the hand tools if you’re in preflower.
I have 3 pairs of pliers with the tips wrapped in tape that are dedicated just for super cropping. Lol!
Now is the time to do your best to expose those nodes by leaf tucking or defoliation, and the bent coat hanger training principle applies here too so it’s important to keep the tips of your main branches pointing horizontal while under the net. “Need to keep the tops down for the bottoms to come up”.
The non stretch 3.5” nylon netting will help hold your canopy flatter if your stretchy net isn’t doing the job. Your plants were just scrogged so you could easily replace the elastic net with non stretch if you think that will help.
You gonna have to take alot of clones to slow that down lol
With another month of veg and preflower stretch your nodes will be tall and you won’t have a choice but to rescrog if you want the best results. Rescrogging will widen out your canopy and also allow more light down to the bottom of your plants, it’s a time consuming process but it’s definitely worth the effort. When you’re ready… just cut your plants free from your tent, then cut away all the existing scrog netting that will be entangled in your branches if you’re not able to pull it up. After you have your new area prepped and plants free from the netting give them another quick schwazz and rescrog them by pulling the branches away from the middle as much as possible. If you’re still in veg or preflower you could apply more HST and try to pull your canopy down even further.
Thanks 420! I'll attach a thumbnail here from one of my previous grows in clay balls. It's a called 4 pot Wilma recirculating drip system that I'm basically just using the res tank, water pump and drip lines for with this grow. I've just chucked a humidity dome starter tray (it's all i had handy) over the center, drilled a couple holes for drainage and dropped the Rockwool stack in there anticipating this one Autoflower to take up the whole tent
. I could probably use the 4 pot sites to put 4 Hugo blocks in and do a SOG grow, but money has been tight atm and I am eager to try your SCROG method, so i thought for this grow why not just do one Auto, learn how to use Rockwool and see how it goes.

-Previous Grow. Tbh I'm sick of cleaning rocks at the end of each grow, so yeah, pretty excited to make the change to Rockwool.
Day 22, trying to keep that main stem horizontal is a challenge! Do you think I need to defoliate those bigger older leaves or leave them on for now?

Never seen a Wilma setup before but it looks like a nice top fed drip system. I use to grow in clay balls but I was lazy and tossed them after each grow and found that shredded rockwool and rockwool cubes worked just as good and less expensive.
A 4 auto SOG would work well with that system as long as you’re able to raise each container to the height of your tallest plant. I’m currently running a 6 auto SOG but 2 of them haven’t started flowering yet and they'll make the SOG look terrible so I’m considering splitting them up and running 4 in the SOG and scrog the 2 late bloomers.
Keeping that main top pinned down is work! I adjust my coat hanger stakes daily with how fast the plants grow and sometimes twice a day if needed. Much easier to just cut the head off your plants (topping) but IMHO you’ll get more side branching and be guaranteed the largest colas by not topping.
If you’re having a hard time working the main stem down, you can give it a pinch to soften it up or just keep the tip of the main top pointing sideways and not worry about bending the whole stalk. You’ll get the same results with a slight bend at the tip without bending the stalk as long as it’s pointing horizontal and not vertical.
Day 29.
FloraNova Grow 650ppm : pH 6.2 : PPFD 600 : DLI 50.
Like you Tristan, I had an ongoing fight keeping the top horizontal. I finally used some daily
gentle bending exercises for it, which seemed to help. Now, is it time for me to release mine?
Stems are short and thick, my best guess still: I had more PPFD than you typically have when
your plants are younger, 420, and the stems aren't motivated to elongate as much as your's do.
As I've mentioned, I've always had short/thick morphology with all of my grows. Will experiment
with this at the next grow.

Looking good Brother!
Keep that top down for as long as you can.
You should get some stretch when she hits preflower
I think I'll do a side by side with Eazy Pyramid. I'll switch to rock wool If it does as well due to cost.Only about $8 tho.
Would be great to see a comparison.
I’ve seen some really nice autos grown with Pyramids but I noticed it’s close to double the cost of loose coco/perlite or rockwool.
I’m running Cloud Coir coco/perlite, Grodan 6x6” (Hugo) blocks and Grodan rockwool chunks In my current grow for a little variety
I've only done DWC before this rockwool adventure. I'll never go back to DWC, based on only 30 days with rockwool and two plants. The growth performance is really impressive. And it's easier too.
I agree Brother!
