Indoor Growing Scrog

what
Day 77 and both crops are in full flower!
A lot of work so far maintaining the canopies and getting them to where they are now but hopefully the payoff will be well worth it in the end. There was a period of time where I was plucking 500-700 leaves a day trying to keep the bud sites clear and I’m still continuing to remove leaves as the plants finish up their last phase of flower.
There are 3 plants in the 5x5’ scrog that are turning into beasts… the Autoseeds.Com Pink Runtz in the very middle has at least 50 strong colas starting to form and the Autoseeds.Com Acapulco Gold in the back right corner should mature into a heavyweight as long as I treat her right and keep up with the pruning. Wasn’t doing her justice by letting her grow in the back corner with very low par so I added a 100 watt Maxisun to hopefully help her grow to her full potential. The Fast Buds Gorilla Zkittlez could also be a heavyweight contender but not sure if I’m able to keep her pruned well enough to get the light penetration she’s going to need to fatten up the colas she has on her. Doesn’t help that both the Acapulco Gold and the Gorilla Zkittlez are right next to each other making it a pain in the ass to keep them well pruned. They both have over 60 main top sites that will turn into massive colas if I do my part right, but it’s extremely difficult getting in there to do the maintenance without brushing up against the delicate bud sites. Wanted to release the plants from the grid to be able to work on them easier but they are locked in there pretty good and I’m afraid of thrashing them while trying to remove them.
I’m considering only growing 6 plants in the next 5x5’ round as it’s very difficult to maintain and prune the 2 plants in the middle of the second and third row. I’m also going to run 4 or 5 of my 150 watt quantum boards to give me a better light spread since the big crown in the middle of my canopy is telling me the FCE-8000 isn’t giving the crop adequate light coverage for the method or style of growing I’m using. I know the $250 in quantum board lighting will perform much better and give me a better spread than the $650 bar light I’m currently running and also burn less wattage.
Sawney’s White Gen 3’s are all happy and healthy too. They are about a week apart in their flowering phase and the pheno on the left which is my favorite is just now going through her bulking period. Since the pheno on the right started to flower late I’m going to let them all continue growing for another 15-20 days to make sure they get enough flowering time to do their thing. Every square inch of this 4x2’ is being utilized and makes me think I should have only started with 2 plants from the beginning. The pheno on the right definitely could have used an extra foot to spread out and she did grow a little taller than I expected from running out of horizontal space. I’m burning an extra 100 watts underneath her for some under canopy lighting to keep the bottom growth healthy and to avoid any larf down below.

fantastic stuff right there, you do it good mate,

Had a very unfortunate problem a few days ago and I accidentally killed one of my nicest plants. Didn’t account for how much my Rainbow Glues were drinking and neglected to check my reservoir level for a couple days and one of the plants dried out. Also had the pump standing strait up instead of sideways or upside down and it wasn’t sucking the remaining 5 inches of water at the bottom of the reservoir which would have kept them both hydrated enough until I noticed the problem. The larger plant on the left didn’t survive the drought but the smaller less developed pheno on the right had just enough moisture in the rockwool block to keep her alive. Still very bummed I lost the larger plant… she was a beautiful girl with over 50 foot long colas developing on her and she would have easily been a 500-600 gram plant in the end if I didn’t screw up. 😔
On a more brighter note… everything else is looking happy and healthy. Been very busy working the canopies a couple times a day and plucking hundreds of leaves daily to keep all the bud sites clean and clear. I have a couple of the Acapulco Golds that might not get the light penetration I need no matter how much pruning I do so I’m planning on burning some extra wattage to run under canopy lighting down below to harden things up.
Here are some pics of the girls development over the past couple weeks and the work I’ve done to them.
My apologies for the big photo dump. :nono:

Day 34 (7/7/23)
Took the 2 larger Acapulco Gold autos out of the 4x2’ tent they were clearly growing out of, set them up on a tray in a 32x60x80” tent, stripped them down and prepped them for the grid.

Here they are in the 4x2’ tent.
They’re just starting their preflower stretch and growing out of their space.

Set up a tray in the 32x60” tent and moved the girls into their final home at day 34. The pheno on the right is growing in a 2 gallon plastic grow bag filled with Grodan rockwool chunks and the plant on the left is growing in a 2 gallon bag filled with Cloud Coir coco/perlite mix.

Here is my small Acapulco Gold at day 34 in a 2x2’ tent. Basically did the same thing to her as the other 2 AG’s but used 3 inch nylon scrog netting to spread her out. She is also growing in a 2 gallon plastic grow bag filled with Grodan rockwool chunks.

This is my 61 day Acapulco Gold.
She’s a beautiful plant with a 35” canopy with over 100 main cola sites. She’s growing in a 2 gallon plastic grow bag filled with Cloud Coir coco and being held down with 3” nylon scrog netting as well.

Sorry to hear about your lady. That training looks brutal but I absolutely love it, :toke: I see most of those lower branches you super cropped. You just wouldn't think the plant would recover and fill that middle section out in 12 days. You can see how that lot is going to grow up and produce that signature 420 look

Here are my 2 Autoseeds.com Pink Runtz.
Nothing really special going on with them except for a lot of stacking

And now for my casualty
These are 2 Autoseeds.com Rainbow Glues at day 39 and as healthy as can be. If you notice the pheno on the left is stacking hard and has well over 50 main cola sites.
She definitely was a beauty! 😔

Appreciate the sympathy and compassion Dean. Lessons learned I guess. Teaches me to stay more on top of things in the future.
Yes… the supper cropping does look a little extreme but it’s the only way I can truly flatten the plant out at the right time. If I spread them out earlier I’m able to bend the branches without the super cropping but then the plant stretches to much under the net/grid and I end up with more bottom growth than I like. It’s all about the timing! My older AG is a good example of a plant that I flattened out a little bit to early and now I have a lot of bottom growth that I’m forced to use under canopy lighting to harden it all up down there.
