Hey all! My setup is a closet 2.5'x3'. I painted everything white for "reflection". I have 1 Bestva 1000 led (110watt from wall) and a very cheap amazon led light (100watts from wall). 1 fan and 4" ventilation setup. Temps average 76-82° with door shut, and 70-75° with door open. Humidity is pretty good steady around 50% and i can lower or raise it as needed. NOW for the questions. Lol

Do i need to hang reflector material or is the white walls good enough?

How many autos "should" i run under 200watts?

Can i leave my closet door open for cooler temps? Will this affect the lighting strength and yield in the end?

Thank you guys for reading and help is appreciated!

White will be good enough. Silver reflects slightly more visible light, and much more heat.

How many is very dependent on strain, and growing style.

There are strains that won't fit a single plant in your closet.

There are growers who because of their growing style and plant training can fit 4 or more small plants.

I'd recommend you start just one, and get your feel for whats happening before you try to go bigger.

Thanks for the reply! The cheap amazon light seems a lot whiter of a light than the bestva more being a yellow tint to it. Will that male much difference? Im wondering if i should just run the bestva and take the other out fearing it doesnt give off the correct lighting. I had grown 3 plants first round, 2 gorilla glue and one bubblegum from growerschoiceseeds and just now finishing up nut they are SMALL. Like a foot tall and not very bushy at all. Wondering if maybe the cheap light is affecting them or it was just me being a new grower. Lol

Download a free phone app like Photone light meter and see how much light they really put out, base your decision from that. if they both fit, and have a dimmer you may be able to run both. In general, plants stretch to reach a light thats too weak, yours didn''t.

Autoflowers can easily be stunted by overwatering. My first one was also only a foot tall, and I only got 70g dry off of it. The next 2 I got over 120 each. Watering is an art to learn, lift a dry pot of soil and get a feel for the heft. When it feels light like that its time to water.

Too much water, light or nutrients can hurt a plant faster than too little.

Ok cool the ppfd is 700 center of plants 20" from lights. Idk if that is good or not. They are both running 100% now. I know i had nute burn from thw very start with this soil. Black gold soil is what i used. Then i overwatered for sure the first 3 weeks of life. After that ive got the watering dialed in a lot better. I am just about on week 3 with an afghan kush auto it seems to be growing a lot better.

Had a slight calcium issue i found one morning but fixed it immediately so only the 2 bottom fan leaves are damaged.

Off to a good start.

I like to fill my containers to the top

700 ppfd on 18/6 is about 50 DLI, thats too much. Try dialing it back to about 500ppfd.

Look for signs that the plant has had 'enough' light. The leaves and stems will droop towards the end of the light cycle. you want this to happen just about lights out.

That droop can easily be misinterpteted as being thirsty, and leads to overwatering.

You just answered a question of mine. Lol the afghan droops about an hour before lights out kind of freaked me out. Its 540 at the top of the afghan. 700 at top of my flowering plants. And i would have filled to top but that was the last of my soil and thats where it landed so i just went with it.

You can put something under a shorter plant to raise it up and even out the amount of light for different height plants.

1) For environment, you'll want to read to on Vapor Pressure Deficit - https://www.dimluxlighting.com/knowledge/vapor-pressure-deficit-vpd-calculator/

That will inform you to the best value, per growth stage, for your plants including temperature and humidity.

2) If it's flat white, that's preferable but the best wall coating is - https://www.orcagrowfilm.com/Hydroponic_products_s/33.htm

3) You'll be hard pressed to find a reliable ppfd chart for your particular lights. Sans having a PAR meter - phone apps won't read accurately unless they all possess the same lux meter (only some of the iPhones), lux and PAR being two different values with the former being for human centric lighting and the second for plants - you'll have to learn to read your plants.

In veg, slowed growth or crinkled leaves that appear as if they are shrinking from the light could very well indicate stress if everything is fine. You'll want to raise the lights if that is the case as veg doesn't even require half the power of flower. With the output they possess, 20/0 would be fine.

Consider a PAR meter an investment to the continued health of your plants if you ever decide to upgrade lights and feel the need to fine tune your garden for consistent results. Horticulture Lighting Group has great lights with accurate testing

4) In regards to plant count, partially depends on your genetics and overall setup including pot size. I'd stick with two or so to begin with and adjust from there, I'd rather have plants packed from wall to wall than empty spaces where light will be wasted.
