What up AFN fam and thanks for peepin the thread! Well, the time has come, my first grow. Before I start I want to do some quick shout outs to thesquid, wg, muddy, goauto, jm, slightly, and pretty much just everyone else on here. You guys are the BOMB!! So this will be my first of many journals to come. Since im pretty new and im sure ill have lots of questions and concerns during the grow but im looking forward to crossing that bridge with yall when I get there. I will try to be as thorough as possible and take tons of pics, I will be shooting for updates every 3-4 days at the least..i feel like obi-wan right now, and all you guys are my qui-gon jinns...SO! this is kind of my dry run, life threw me a curve ball and of course ill just have to adapt and overcome. So my solution to the curve ball, im going to start with the bare minimum, and add on along the way, since im balling on a budget i dont have a tent at the moment, im crossing my fingers that the smell dont kick in til after next month when i purchase my secret jardin, LED's, and filter  we'll see how that goes. so without further adieu here i go....

The Ladies:
00 Seeds Auto Bubble Gum Fem (mary kate)
Genehtik AK Auto (ashley)

at the moment i am using 2x 100 watt energy smart CFL's (jeremy hasnt got back to me about my MS0006 so im waiting for them to get in stock, if not, next month i will go with Gotham LED)

My grow space is just an average closet i would say about 5 1/2 ft x 2 ft and plenty high, maybe 8 or 9 ft.

For water, im using a 5 gallon cooler sitting out with an air pump for fish tanks that i got at wally world so its fizzin in the corner. (ph meter is ordered and coming in the mail this week)

FoxFarm Ocean Forest potting soil (ordered and should be here any day now)

5 gallon smart pots

Jiffy seed starting mix

The temps in my closet are between 77-82 degrees and the humidity is 31-40%

Initially i was going to go with only one girl but i decided 2 is better cuz shizz happens right  so Mary Kate had about a 48 hour head start on Ashley. I planted them both directly into the soil (didnt pre soak), i had run water through before to make sure it was nice and moist. Mary Kate was put in the dirt Thursday, and low and behold, this morning (5/6) when i woke up she poked her little head up so ill call this day 1 for her  so now i figure Ashley wont be too far behind. Ill post her pics as soon as she does tho.

so in closing for todays post, like i said im just kind of winging it, i have a list of everything that i need, i.e. im going with foxfarm neutes but i wont get that til later, since the soil will be hot for a month right, the tent, fan/filter, diy co2 gen, ect...ill be on it later when i have the extra cash, i really dislike being broke :D again, thanks for stopping by, be sure to get subbed, enjoy the good vibes and ill catch yall on the flip side....pokalolo out....for now....:peace:

Good luck on your grow and I'm here when you need me. Might be a good idea to scoop up some dolomite lime for the OF, it tends to have a low Ph. Add about 1Tablespoon per gallon of soil and mix thoroughly and wet. It takes about two weeks to get that lime going good so make sure you start that early enough to be ready to roll when you transplant.

Peace

appreciate it man....could you go into detail a bit more? i forgot to say that i got some atlas scientific group ph up and down...would that be the same deal? forgive me ive never grown anything before so im a lil ignorant on the subject lol

just a bit of an update...soil, ph up & down, and smart pots came in the mail....squid, im having no luck finding the dolomite lime...being in this crazy farming town the lady at the garden shop tried to help me out and they had some kind of lime that raised ph in soil but the dang bag was like 20 pounds...maybe thats the right one i dunno  you said about 1 tablespoon per gallon so first thought was dang thats waaay more than i need...so again, still waiting on my dang ph tester to come in the mail, dang company is taking their sweet time mailing it to me so im thinking my ph up should work right, just got to get the run off reading and add accordingly maybe? anyways i ended up transplanting mary kate to the pre soaked smart pot with the OF....note to self im going to plant directly into the final pot next time, im crossing my fingers that i did ok....ashley is also on day 2, she showed her face yesterday (5/8)...i finally put a tiny fan in the room for some circulation....anyways heres some pics....

another quick update...i finally got my ph meter in, along with my ph +/- solution...kinda confused with the the ph deal even after reading the ph manual on here i dunno maybe its cuz im high....but as it stands my ph going in is 7.1 and my runoff is 6.3....so squid, any tips you can give the lay guy here will be much appreciated...i added another cfl today a 100 watt 2700k bulb, it didnt look like mary kate was putting much growth on, was scared i stunned her when i transplanted her, not sure how shes looking for day 9, normal? ashley is looking about the size of her sister, i transplanted her today as well...heres some pics....again breaking down ph for a dummy like me would be awesome...thanks guys...peace out for now....

thanks boogie :smokebuds: yea im trying to make due with what i got..its going smoothly so far tho...

:help: can anyone tell me about the correct way to space the nodes? now that my girls are finally putting on a little vertical growth i was wondering whats the trick to the spacing...any help/advise will be much appreciated....thanks guys....

is anyone willing to help? or put in some info?

Hey Poka, you get your spacing by adjusting the distance of your light from the top of the plant. The closer to the plant, the less stretch. The farther, the more stretch. Hope that helps.
