Dutch Passion Groff Labs: AutoMazar - GN LEDs - Airpots - Coco vs Biobizz

Hey autoberry, thanks for dropping in!

Yep, I guess I will go guerilla grow... or might go crazy and actually try to see her through. Haven't decided yet. :wiz:

The Ms0006 are rated at 270w but puts out 175w actual power draw. So at best that would be 350w full blast. The two mazar are basically under 1 light though. Hope to get a stronger CFL so I can take better pictures.
I counted the days since they popped out from the rockwool, so I would add +3 days to account for soaking and paper towel method.

About the lights though, I'm sticking to the "Grownorthern The Manual" thread over at the LED section. Originally posted by the TaNg-man, so I'm just following directions. Can't argue with proven results!

I've upped the EC to 1.0, and they still seem hungry... well, AutoMazar 2 new growth is a paler green. pH has been 5.8-5.9, and the stems on both plants are quite purple.

I don't have pics right now, but what do you reckon... going too fast upp'ing the EC? I don't think they are complaining at all... hope not!

Hey Groffuwiwi. I'm subbed for your grow. Just stated my first auto grow in coco as well.
Could you help a fellow grower out and tell me how much and how frequent you have been watering your seedling please.
Everywhere I have read says that you can not over-water in coco but I'm not so sure about seedlings. Also, when did you give the first feeding?

Sure thing bro.

I prepare the coco 24h before planting the seedling with a full watering of canna a&b rhizo and cannazym, EC of about 0.6 - 0.8, pH 5.8. Just about to get a little run-off going. Water slowly. Next day I plant them in and give a light watering with bottled water (EC 0.05 pH 5.7) to settle medium snuggly. I give about 20ml right at the base, about 4 to 6 times a day. As soon as the second leafs start showing growth I start the EC again to 0.6. The first few weeks I use bottled water before switching to tap water (pH 7-8) as I have to start adding pH(-) to correct.

Do you use LEDs? On lower temps coco holds water alot longer, and the plant is still very small, so you dont need to water that much. Frequent little feeds will do the trick just fine. As she starts to grow you will know, don't worry. Just keep giving more as she goes, and from there on... where on the same boat amigo! :smokebuds:

What are you growing?

I prepared the Coco (bio nova bricks) 1 week before planting. Because I wanted to let it dry out a bit before planting. Did not add any nutes then. I planted the seed last Thursday and it popped last Saturday. On Sunday I gave her about 200 ml water (rainwater 0.08 ec) with some plagron power roots making a total ec of 0.15. Ph set at 5.8. I'm using LED (150x3w ~300 w eshine panel) but I added some extra 2x 55w cfl's (6500k). Not for the light but for more heat. I'm growing in my loft and am struggling a bit with temps. Damn this never ending winter we are having. First true leaves have shown.
I was planning to give the second watering this evening. Does 150 ml sound ok to you? So ec at 0.6. I'm using canna a+b and a bit more root juice. It's a auto Northen Lights freebee from my growshop. I think its from RQS.

Seems just about right. The cool thing with coco is that, in fact, it is pretty hard to waterlog a plant. I use airpots, so I am 100% safe. Want you dont want to do is keep watering like mad and have your run-off plate full of water all the time. With a traditional pot, it will suck the water from the plate back up again until fully saturated, so if you insist in overwatering, the run-off just sits in the plate an get slowly sucked back in constantly, not permiting a wet/dry cycle... and that is when you waterlog the plant. From there it's a step to root rot.

General rules of thumb;

Less is more,
Read the plant. They will tell you if under watered, you will know, trust me...
Overwatering is harder to read and much harder to fix than under watering
Under watering can be a very healthy plant stressor and root promoter!

Use your instincts, they won't fail you twice. And above all don't stress too much. Any issue just ask or post pics...

Funny you mention root juice. I'm thinking of trying Biobizz nutes in coco. Apparently it should work out nicely.

Food for thought...

I'm using an air-pot as well, so that a good thing :check:.
I feel a lot better already after you explication Groffuwiwi.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions mate. It's appreciated.

groffu i would put both the gn0006's over the mazar now dudes. 1 wont be enough i wouldn't have thought groffu's,...................the ph of the biobiz 6ph minimum will be diff from the cocco 5.8 max ph groffu's,...........this may account for the purpleing of the stems yea..........keep emat 1.0 ec till there 8-12 inches then up it 0.2 every 4-6 day's upto 1.6ec. Then push on into flower from 1.6 to 2.1 fwr nutes,.................like the TD mazar can take it, no issues...............have a look at the seymour buds early mazar thread,.......think he pushed harder,.....2.3ec depends on the geno average spread in the beans you got,.......you might have a super star in there !!..........they fill right out groffu,...............................if 3mm of the tip of a mid fan leaf starts to go brown,................back of 30% nutes, post a 5-7ltr flush ok.................they will love you for it !!.......good luck and good growin groffu's.........................mazar,...NICE............................AB................

Yes sir!

Day 17

I have also been misting the plants with 2ml rhizo pH 5.8 since transplant.

I've been upping the EC slowly, but from the dozens of diaries I've seen I pretty much figured they were hungry. So I kept upping. Surprisingly, the bigger mazar nº1 is burning a tipo or two. Not Mazar nº2, but also slightly pale...? So I guess my pH could be a little off, though my meter has shown to be quite precise.

I lowered again to EC. 1.1+ and pH 5.7. Interestingly, goes in line with what is seen in DWC, so any of you bucket boys out there :D are welcome to comment! They had just woken up without breakfast, so they were kind of shy for the camera.
