Indoor GreenBean's Grows

Was it purple, or no?

Yes and skunky as all hell

Post 2. So…knowing what I realized about stretching for warmth. I decided NOT to top the Fastbuds Banana Purple. I decided to kinda let her go until I see tassels. Then I’ll grommet her up. The difference is striking. Obviously different strains but you get the point.

Day 31 and the Banana Purple is shaping up to be massive.

Yeah, I have some of the banana purple yet to run. In the last few batches, I have not topped or fimmed lately trying to control width. I have been doing some light LST, I can get a fairly flat plant with not much problem, and in some of them I have had to remove bud sights because they were overloaded. I have a Big FB sour diesel finishing up at about 120 days and a FB strawberry banana at 56 days that just has huge colas, it is a real grower. I predict a very big banana purple coming your way. As for the stretching, it seems some stretch more than others even with the same plant same batch. I would think they would stretch for the light myself but never found that mattered. Now stretching for the heat might be valid and will have to see this winter.

I only just snapped to why they don't stretch as much in the summer and they just don't have to. It's about 82 degrees consistently on average in the 4x2 so they are pretty happy.

If I want to get them taller, then I need to stop topping in the warmer seasons. It's not even tent size, cuz the 4x2 is 7' tall with the extension. I can raise the light bars as high as I want. Hope that makes sense. But it's repeatable with every plant, and strain, that I grow in the spring summer. They just stay lower. Same exact lights, you name it. I suppose I may get a little more stretch if I cranked the light up near the ceiling. But then I'm burning $$$ on electricity. Yields are decent still even if they are shorter. Average of about 12 oz on the last 2.

In the fall/winter I can top and they will stretch to get more warmth from the lights. Back at the old place it would get pretty cold at night so those suckers would push up to get more warmth. Kinda blows my mind really.

I'll play with it more in the fall. But right now I'm thinking - top in the winter with a little more aggressive canopy work. Don't top in the summer and a little less canopy work. YMMV.

EDIT - I think I am going to do at least the first fall/winter run in the 4x2 to see if my theory works out. I'm basing the theory on my climate of course. And I could be wrong. I just don't have any other explanation as to why my plants get tall AF without exception in the colder weather, no matter the strain. And stay more compact, without exception, during our summers.Same lights, light heights, everything. I may be 100% wrong though and it's just one of those things.

Later on, about 50 days in. I thought I was fighting a deficiency but in the end the leaves were just purple purple-ing up.
Interesting and thanks. My plant DID have a deficiency really early. Actually needed a boost of calmag for a couple feedings. And then she was good to go. But I haven't seen a cal deficiency in a super long time. Anyway, thanks for the info. Mine is at 32 days today I think. So I'll keep an eye out for it and see if it's consistent. Maybe it is with the strain, but I'm out of the loop lately.

Day 66 for the Ogreberry 2B tester. Smallest auto I’ve grown in awhile. And a little ugly. But she’s fairly chunky despite that. She’s not a heavy feeder. 7 gallon was obviously not necessary. But she’ll yield fairly well I suppose. Reminds me of a Lowryder crossed with Alien Moonrocks. Smells delicious, as mentioned, like grape soda. Id love for her to finish so there’s more space in the 4x2.

FB Banana Purple Punch tester. Day 36. Taking advantage of the 7 gallon! Little bit closer to what I expect. Looks like she’s going to hog the 4x2. Cleaning up the lower canopy on her and that’s about it. She IS hungry unlike Ogreberry. She’s showing her tassels now. So I bumped her to 4g each of the Floraflex V1 and V2. Hopefully to push more growth until she’s got her little cotton balls.

Family portrait: Kinda funny.

Day 38 and I guess this is turning into the Banana Purple show. Having to raise the lights 5-6 clicks every other day now. I’d raise it higher, but I still need to get the Ogreberry some decent light. I’ve got her pretty level and kinda just letting her grow.

As she gets taller, and bigger daily, I can kinda get a little better gauge on what lower growth needs to go. Then I remove it. Some lower, obviously larfy stuff I remove now. Some stuff I’ll leave if it looks like it might shoot up towards the top of the canopy. Plenty of time to let her do her thing before I start really cleaning her up.

It’s kinda funny and interesting. I switched to autos because I love the challenge of getting them to yield like a photo. And now when I get 3/4 lb + on an auto on average. I start wondering if I should grow some photos for a bit. Less electricity $$$. Especially in the warmer months. Dunno.

I have had the same thinking. But I likle the idea of not worrying about light leaks and can still turn on the lights if I need to with my schedule.
I was growing outside in the summer for the last few years. This is the first summer growing indoors in a while.
