Indoor GreenBean's Grows

You guys know I love my Atreum lights. They fly under the radar. They mostly used to sell DIY kits like mine. Easy to put together.

They’ve started moving to plug and play lights. I shouldn’t have watched this! Now I want one. Pretty interesting about LED selection. My Atreum in the 4x2 is 3 bar. This 4 bar is a beast.

I love my Atreums man. Light spread is so amazing due to the 4' bar length. Hard to go to anything else. I have looked at Photontek too though.

I agree that their site looks kinda weird, when you go to it and almost everything is out of stock. They need to hurry up and release more units to fill the site back up. But I can vouch for their lights and their service. I've dealt with Mike the owner a few times and the dude always bends over backwards for me. When I was looking at their DIY kits for the 4x2, they only had a 2 bar setup. I emailed and asked if they'd ever thought about a 3 bar and they had one figured out and up on the site in a day. Guess they took the 3 bar and improved on it. I hope they do well. We need more domestic companies offering lights.

You were right about the Vornado too @olbobcat . It's doing a good job outside of the tent, in the room itself. Got it plugged into my Inkbird with the Inkbird probe inside the tent. Pretty cool. Dunno what I will do if/when I put the 4x4 up though. This room is a little tight. The humidifier would have to get moved from where it is right now.

Think something is happening with Lady Walter folks. See. You can’t just threaten them with The Chop. You gotta SHOW THEM THE BLADE!!!

Day 41 Mendel. She’s a keeper. Looking like she’s gonna be another fun one!

She’s getting 4g each of B1 and B2 per gallon of water and 1.75 g of Bulky B. That’s closer to photo strength, but she’s taking it and getting hungry. PPFD around 775 for now.

I checked out their website and, no doubt, that's a great setup. Maybe drop a line to ppfdcharts.com and see if they'll review it?

Re. domestic companies - that's a tough one. American labor is expensive. Throw in overheads for plant, equipment, and regulatory burden and it's really hard to manufacturer a commodity product and be competitive. Atreum is in GA so cost of living is lower than a lot of places but American manufacturing has a hard time competing in a lot of product categories.

Anyway, back to lighting - that's "good kit", as they say.

I think they're in Seattle? But most of the stuff is built out of China nowadays. I'm happy to support them even if the customer service and such is here. That video linked above by Dr. Coco or whatever had a pretty good PAR chart for it. Went pretty in depth.

Is PPFDcharts the pepper guy? I'm sure he'll get around to it eventually. If it's the same guy, he was really hot on their little Hydra 1000 2x2 which is pretty much the light that started their move away from the kit systems they used to sell. Wish they would offer the new one in a kit. Because they literally take 15 minutes to put together. But they probably aren't much cheaper now.

And yup, I'm a small business owner myself - I have a shirt brand, been doing it for over a decade. It's just me. But I did take a break due to burnout awhile back to run a huge garment facility here for a few years. It is tough to do manufacturing here. As well as USA made supplies and such being in very short supply now.

That's a really good price for what looks like a great light.

I really like them and I don't really know why they fly under the radar so much. For some reason, I want to help them get the word out about the company. I just think there's more options out there that people should know about. But I tend to root for the underdogs. Maybe they're happy with the business they do. I have invited Mike over to join the forum. Could be a supply issue too. Would suck to get 1000 orders and not be able to fulfill them in a timely manner. Although they are on Amazon as well. But again, little reviews. Now their little Hydra 1000 has a ton of reviews. Who knows.

There's a long video on the Dr. Coco channel after that review with the owner Mike where he states that bigger lights are next for 4x4, 5x5.

PPFD charts is the LED gardener. Different guy than I was thinking about. Funny enough one of his videos popped up on my YouTube feed last night.

I was thinking about this last night: I have 2 Atreum bar setups. A 320w 3 bar for my 4x2 and a 480w 4 bar for the 4x4. Those are last year's DIY kits. I'm looking at that new light, and I can't justify it. But the 4 bar kit is getting no use right now. I might be able to pull one of the bars and use it with the 320w 3 bar in my 4x2. Essentially the same as the new Hydra. Except my bars have Samsung and Cree diodes. I need to think about that. And yeah a 480w light for a 4x4 seems underpowered a little for a 4x4, but the light distribution is so good. You can see the results from the previous run. It just spreads light so efficiently that I don't have the need to go much over 30w per square foot. Adding the 4th bar to the 4x2 would be more of an experiment to see what happens. I think I'll reach out to them and see if they foresee any issues. I can't think of any.
