if it was any other strain i'd maybe have my doubts but that Ripley's i'm confident will still give you the goods! she hasn't even established her side branching properly yet and that's where this lady really performs - just branches on branches! won't be your last Mephisto i'll bet anything she'll get you hooked!

@ClydeWalters no downwards leaves on my Ripley's mate but no two are the same as you know. i pushed mine very hard with my cobs and she kept her leaves straight for me. you've set yours up way better than mine though, i just couldn't get the penetration from the cobs to bulk up the growth on her lowers, so i will end up with a lot of fluffier bud. next run with her i will train hard or top for sure, if the smoke is as good as i think it will be. less than a week and i'll chop mine, so around 84 days seed-chop.

@NiceOption i just got lucky i happened upon it matey, but if nothing else it will ensure i remain vigilant with inspections etc - basically it justifies the amount of time i sit in their room not doing much at all haha.
for the terps alone, Ripley's is worth a grow out - she probably isn't going to makes waves in terms of bag appeal honestly but size and smell more than makes up for that to me. i'm still trying to refine my drying and curing process though as i'm unhappy with taste so far - potency and smell not been a problem for me but getting the end product tasting great is something that eludes me.
thanks for the kind words on the Stilton, really has been a lovely little surprise and her aroma really makes my eyes pop haha. gotta wait another week at least to try her arghhhhh



so with the advent of a Ripley's harvest fast approaching, this 4x4 is about to look rather bare with a modest HBSS and my seedling Samsquanch and GWK - will be popping the White Stomper to make up some numbers and then decide if i'll run a 5th girl before adding more lights or wait until after.

here's my HBSS at 38 days old just started to pull her finger out

tip burn must be from the new CalMag (sorry @NiceOption i switched to TNC CalMag (TheNutrientCompany) - cheapest on a popular internet marketplace - from the Density CalMag product...the Density brand did not contain N but instead it is stuffed full of amino acids and sweeteners, which smells incredibly chemical and not in the nicest way...but after a couple of grows i think it effects the final product too much so decided to stop using it) as that's the only thing this girl has had at full strength - trying to work up from 0.5ml Sensi A&B feeds with very little additions added but yet again i find my girls give me the finger trying to push AN stuff higher. she's getting a drop of Big Bud and will move to Canna PK 13/14 once full flowering begins.

She's a beaut! Not much of a burn so probably nothing to worry about.

With regard to taste, I think the Flawless Finish makes a huuuuuge difference. Obviously a decent cure helps too. The first ones I was happy with for taste was using for a week. So smooth and you can really taste the terps in a joint. In a vaporiser it's ridiculous.

I wonder if the cal-mag you've used has affected the taste if you say it has a chemical smell?

that’s precisely why I switched the calmag, I’m convinced it carried over in to taste and smell and that’s not what I want at all!
absolutely right away I noticed a cleaner taste with , I’m sold on it! I think the Stilton ended up with just three runs of through it so hopefully enough...I started flushing her maybe a week later than i should have so she didn’t want to drink much by the end...however Ripley’s is still gulping it down and with no signs of more mould (just been combing through her again) I think I will wait for Stilton to dry before she tags Ripley in to the cupboard
but anyway I’m rambling I think the problem I had last round was not long enough drying before stuffing in jars and trying to cure damp bud doesn’t do much...that’s what I’m thinking anyway, but I’m shooting to fix it ASAP

exactly what i was trying to do myself, jar them a little bit early and then micro-manage RH from there. but after this weekend i'm pretty sure the problem was with that particular plant itself, for whatever reason.
you know that 4AM is high on the list bro! i have space i think...



the bit of Ripley's i had to chop up because of mould - last Mon/Tues? i chucked the good bits in a brown bag to dry on it's own away from any other buds. I checked 'em Saturday morning to find them just about dry enough for a test...

that's some strong dope guys!

and flavour? beautiful stuff already, bucket loads of OG funk beyond expectations after just a few days in brown bags,but this is definitely the turning point for me in terms of growing serious quality bud. i had a couple of friends round that night, as they left - "get more of that OG"...!
i can't believe i have a whole plant of this bud and makes me EVEN MORE hyped for the Samsquanch OG and i'm buying AvT beans ASAP because this Alien tastes just exceptional...right up my street and the thought of a more kushy version makes me dizzy

Stilton Special also passing the taste test with flying colours, pungent earthy fuel soaked cheesy goodness - she's been hanging a week in the cupboard and will be jarred up tonight and replaced by Ripley's corpse.

whatever troubles i had with flavour are non existent with this round, both Ripley's and Stilton are knockouts and i couldn't be happier.


i was too medicated to take any decent pics this weekend but here's a couple

will prepare the 15L pots in the next day or two for transplanting the Samsquanch and the GWK;

HBSS pushing 6 weeks now, leaves getting a bit more slender and sativa-ish as she gets older.

and i dropped a White Stomper bean in water last night

Try to get the AvT special, I've had nothing but good luck from them. And they were freebies. May have to ask @mephisto though, Not sure if you can even still get it. But its basically the kushier version of AvT

Dude, your HBSS is looking way more sativa than mine. Im super jealous about that. I actually took a fresh off the plant tester nug the other day just for shits and giggles. It was super indica. I ate a bowl of ice cream and took a nap... Hopefully once its cured up it'll have a little more pep to it. I hate being couch locked.

@SlownLow86 hey bro, yes she seems to be growing in to slimmer fingers on her leaves - first bunch of sets looked pretty rounded and i was expecting it to lean the other way but perhaps not! not that i'd be opposed to some indica bubblegum, my preferred state of being is locked in a couch.
