Flushing vs. Flushing

Nowhere is that written.

However- a stoner walks into a hydro shop and says "I need to do a cleanse now, what should I use"
The reason for the change is simple alot of people were getting mixed up with the term 'flushing' and the last two weeks were 'flushing 3x pot volume' this is only used when you either have serious PH problems or your changing over to the next stage in your nute regime (as some peole do)
It is just to simplify the process of an auto fineshing up and make ready for harvest :peace: Si

Hello, I'm a total newbie here and I'm growing myself a plant for the first time ever since the bean in the cup activity at school.
So cleansing is watering the plant with a normal amount like the other times but with PHed water?
How come?
I'm portuguese, maybe my english is failing but I dont understand when u say "PHed water"

Thank you, and sorry for the ignorance

Evening crispt9, cleansing is when you stop adding nutes to your feed(usually 1-2 weeks before harvest). The plant will then start using up all it`s stored energy to finish off(leaves will start to turn from green to yellow). PHed water is just plain water which has had the Ph adjusted to 6.5(which is the prefered Ph of cannabis). If you`re lucky enough to have a water source at or around that Ph level, you don`t need to adjust it! Doing this will make your harvested bud smoother and better tasting! :peace:

Thanks muddy! You are truly one of the best sources of information, especially for a new grower. Your guides are priceless!
I was going to do a final flush with 9 gallons this weekend as I am about 2 weeks from chopping. I'm so glad I saw this thread! I did have to flush once during my grow and my girls stayed soaked for the next week with no growth.(I know now that my soil doesn't drain well) So happy that all I need to do is water! Not to mention that I use ro water that I buy 3 gallons at a time, thats 3 trips per plant, I have to stockpile for a week to not look suspicious. Thanks again!

Muddy and krug at their best! Thank you for the explanation!

Teach us, masters!

I`m no where near Muddys` class! But thank you kindly, all the same mate! :smokebuds:

okay guys seriously.. want some feed back from a new grower about this post?

Me being new (haven't even grew a plant yet) found muddy's thread a piece of piss to understand, luckily i thought it was worth a read
because my now "old" understanding of flushing was just the flush at the second last week, instead of flushing and flushing or flushing and cleansing, why cant one be called..A flush, and the other a cleansing flush, i mean thats pretty straight forward right? they both have the names and sound pretty self explanatory, or maybe thats just me, anywhore cheers muddy you bloody legend thanks for the clearing up:smokebuds:

Yeah I agree. You ask people and they say 2 weeks flush then u smoke some and its harsh. Or little fireworks go off the "flushed meds" hah

I understand your point but we're not talking dictionary definitions here, but how the terms apply to growing. In general flushing has always been associated with putting a large amount of water through the pot to deal with specific situations like over fertilizing, salt buildup, high/low pH, etc. Many members were getting confused and thinking they should run the same large amounts of water through their plants at the end of the grow. Hence the distinction, flushing to address a problem, cleansing to remove the last traces of nutrients at the end of the grow.

sorry my bad i thaught putting water thru the pot at the end to rid any ec in the soil/ system was flushing... fkush it all out and then the plant will use all ready foods left in its self instead of taking in more nutes... leaving a cleaner smoke.
i use ripen for 5days it has hormones that tell the plant its end of season use your food and throw out thc in a last attempt to pollenate, then (says you dont have to) i flush with pure water for 5days,
to water i water til 20% runoff,
to flush i water til 40% runoff, for 2days then 20% remainder, i measure ec readings til trace , i also remove asmany leaves as i can so they have not much scource left by tiem of chop therte just trimmed bud,
they love it there strong there clean, and amazzing, i yeild alot , not bragging but i do know what im doing and doign it hydro is far easyer, i can taste nutes in most smokes after being used to clean shit,

flush is flush in my eyes, if your burning flush it out if your finnishing flush it out

Whenever you water your supposed to have 20% run off so that the excess salts are removed, however there is a big difference between flushing and leaching

Flushing is something which is done in the last couple weeks of flowering, leaching is removing all the excess salts/minerals/build ups etc but people use the word flush for both.

Easy way to remember is a mid flower/veg flush would mean to leach the soil by putting 2-3 x the size of the pot worth of plain water through and although this is actually called leaching people may say to "Give her a flush" when they do mean "Leach some of the shit out of the soil"

The correct definition of flushing is just feeding plain water for the last 2 weeks of flower to clear out all of the chemicals/salts/nutrients out of the stems, leaves, buds, soil etc with a run off of 20% (BUT NOT 2-3 x the size of the pot)
