New Grower First Time CFL Micro Grow - Northern Lights

Question regarding trimming before drying since I'll be doing it tomorrow night. First I'll remove the big fan leaves, but do I also trim the bud/sugar leaves at this time?

After trimming whichever leaves I'm supposed to, I'll then separate the plant into a few branches of buds and hang them upside down in the can, correct?

Will do on the weight. I have a scale on it's way now.

For the drying, the plan is to slightly modify the trash can. When the plant was little, I had two strings strung across the top of the can from which the lights hung so that they could be as close as possible to the plant. The strings were removed when the plant got bigger, and the lights were then hung from the lid. Now that the lights are removed, I'll re-install the string and use that to hang the buds from, with the two fans in the lid providing the air circulation via the passive vent at the base.

I'll cure for a week or two before the smoke. Though I may have to sneak a nug prior to that. :smokeit:

No hygrometer for the cure, nor any plans to get one. I will grab some Boveda packs, though. Shortly after the cure, I have a long vacation coming up. So I'll burp the jars until then, and then put the Boveda pack in so that they can be nice and safe whilst I'm gone. :cooldance:
A Hygrometer would be good for drying IMO so you know where the humidity stands. Between 60-65 percent is good humidity for drying so that will be about 7 days of drying.
Over drying is no bueno and to much humidity is a risk of mold, but if you have a fan circulating u should be fine on the mold part as long as humidity is in range. I would still buy a hygrometer. They are inexpensive

You can trim the sugar leaves or leave them on as u like.. sugar leaves will give you more weight on the bud, but might be harsher to smoke. If you are smoking rather than vaping.
Trimming doesn't have to be perfect. Especially if it's just for you

Thanks, though what I was trying to find out was whether I trim the sugar leaves before or after drying. Or does it even matter?

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'll post some pictures tonight of my trim job. Also plan to pick up some papers and loose tobacco today so that I can make use of any finger/scissor hash I may get.

So the deed has been done. Pics below.

Above is after the fan leaves were removed. Below is prior to removing anything.

Below is the bud hanging in the dryer.

I tossed all my small trim leaves into the freezer until I can decide what to do with them. May have fucked that up, but oh well.

Still testing my will power here. Tested the branches today, and they are getting drier, but still not at the snapping point. If I had to guess, I'd think they will be at that point on Friday or Saturday. Then I'll weigh them and jar them up. Will definitely snatch a few of the popcorn buds and smoke them. I'm patient, but not that patient. :eyebrows:

Good news is that my Boveda pack (62%) and my scale arrive on Saturday, just in time. :headbang:

Longest. Week. Ever. :wall:
