New Grower First Time CFL Micro Grow - Northern Lights

Thanks for all the kind words.

Decided this morning to switch out one of the photography bulbs for 2 23W 2700K CFLs that I had lying around. I figure that will give a better spectrum to the plant for the last few weeks of flowering.

Thoughts?

Nevermind. When I was getting ready to switch out the big bulb, I saw that I had two socket splitters lying around. So I added the two 23W 2700k bulbs to the setup, in addition to the two 85W 5500k bulbs I already had. Should be good to go now for the remaining flowering period.

Can't wait to see how they turn out

Gave her some water and nutrients this morning. And this evening she's still looking good. No pictures today, but I'll try to snap some tomorrow and post them. A question regarding the upcoming end of flowering and generating bud weight. What is the consensus (ha!) on generating the most bud weight gain? I've read various forums/threads on this topic and wanted to get some opinions.

Regarding lighting, I've seen people state that 48 hours of darkness prior to cutting is best, and others say to switch to and 8/16 cycles for the last 48 hours to really stimulate bud growth. Others also recommend cutting the main stem in order to simulate and animal eating the plant so as to stimulate bud growth.

Regarding nutrients, I've seen some people post that it's okay to feed nutrients right up to the end, while others swear by flushing and some say to stop all nutrients during the last two weeks.

Thoughts, opinions, other suggestions?

Thanks.

The idea of darkness and breaking stems is to make the plant think something bad is happening and so tries a last ditch reproduction boost. Guys on here use darkness mostly. As far as nutes, most guys seem to plain water when using chemical nutes but organic guys don't bother, usually. I think it's suck it and see. I use organic and just let it dry out a bit prior to cropping like cotton plants.

Sent from my comfy chair.

Checked on her today. Still going strong with the buds. They are starting to fatten up now, but she still has a few weeks to go.

I am starting to believe the whole idea of flushing the plants is pure nonsense. There is a great write up and discussion on the subject in this thread:

It's an interesting read.
