New Grower First grow- seedsman northern lights

It sure is a learning experience trying to learn when a plant needs things vs our patience. When i grew in ffof i watered to a little bit of runoff each time and i learned to feed them every 1-3 waterings not every time the container felt light when picked up. i kinda got it down but decided to try top dress feeds and water only and i loved it.
I added buildaflower x2 during the whole grow and a little craft blend 1 time from buildasoil.com and i got some monsters, tried 3 different soils and top dressed the same way, same results but somehow miracle-gro moisture control soil + top dressing gave me huge results.
I'm currently on a upgraded version of that grow method, SIPS/earthbox, they have a res under the soil and i just fill a pipe that fills the res every few days and the bastards drink what they want while i top dress when i feel they need nutes to push them into flower.

Just an idea that i tried and i like it vs guess feedings which requires a feel for it and experience :toke:

:pighug: :pass: Good luck!

One of my problems is that I want to try all of the things. That sounds like a fun one.

The big twins definitely have better color since the 1gal calmag + recharge + yucca flushes. They were dry today so I just repeated that today. I might snap some pictures later.

I did take some pictures of my 2 rocbud grape dosi breath autos this morning. Here they are, with nothing particular to update about.

Ok so I'm a newby and I could be totally off base, but I think the drooping you were getting before they started clawing could very well have been due to too much water. Sounded to me like you were watering way more than needed and with your high humidity they weren't able to respirate as much as they needed to before you'd watered again. Have you been checking the weight of your pots before watering? They look *really* saturated. Not sure on the clawing personally, but I think @Mañ'O'Green may be able to help you out?

It's possible. My humidity hasn't been as bad as it was in those early posts. With some vents open and fans running, the tent stays between 50 and 62%. Those pictures were taken after watering--the pots get pretty dry between waterings. Certainly dry past my 2nd knuckle and they feel light when i heft them.

You really do not want to ever let a pot get too dry it is as bad as too wet and soggy!

What you need to learn about watering will come with practice. Here are the basic rules: Never let the soil dry out. Soil and or coco can become hydrophobic if allowed to dry. This means it repels water. This in turn will create dry pockets in the soil and the roots and microbes will die there. If your soil - coco have accidentally dried out use a surfactant to help re-wet it. I like yucca powder. Don't let soil remain soggy by watering too much too often. Root rot, damping off, molds, fungus gnats and other problems start in soggy soil. When you do water water the entire pot. How to learn when to water starts before you plant the seed. Fill your container with fresh soil/coco and weigh it (heft it) this is the lightest weight and consider it a dry pot. Now slowly water until the soil/coco will no longer absorb the water and run-off begins; weigh the pot (heft it) this is the maximum water, the wettest the pot can get. The difference between wettest and driest is the maximum water weight, for ease of explanation lets just say the water weighs 20 pounds. When the pot loses 10 pounds (half of the water weight) it is time to water again. There is an art to watering. Coco can be fertigate many times a day if you want to continually present fresh balanced nutrients to the roots. Begin fertigation 2 hours after lights on and end it 2 hours before lights out.

Thanks @Mañ'O'Green

There should be a badge for everyone who's had to have you put that watering guide on their grow journals, like the badge @420Forever put on me for admitting to being a lurker
Watering seems so simple until you have to do it :crying:

Mostly pictures today. I watered the twins yesterday. Between the two they got 1gal dH2O with 15ml big bloom + recharge + yucca. The girl on the left seemed to like it okay, the girl on the right is complaining with her smaller leaves doing the twisty thing. At least the colors are better.

I'd really like for them to hurry up and make these buds. They're making more pistils but I guess they're going to have a long preflower stretch. They're growing at probably ~.5 to 1 inch a day.

Here's the GSC auto in the hempy bucket. She's making lots and lots of lady parts all over. I think she'll flower faster than the northern lights plants. I've started some light LST. Nothing to the main stem--just getting lower branches spreading out. My goal with this one is to pretty much let it do its thing and stress it as little as I can manage.

Here's the grape dosi breath in DWC. This is fun so far. Its first leaves yellowed and the reservoir got a little musty early on but I think I caught it just in time and it's been smooth sailing since, so far. It's at about day 20, for reference.
