New Grower First Grow - Mephisto - Jammy Dodgers #2 (4)

WADR I would start over now.

Your seedlings are small, burnt and not praying. With auto's any set back will result in a lesser plant even if they recover.

You could continue as an experiment/learning experience while you pop some new seeds !

Cheers

Got it brother, I'll be popping some new seeds tonight and chalk this up as a learning experience in watering and maintaining a seedling! I'll keep these 4 going until the new plants are ready to pop in and take their place.

Hello @RedWolfDiesel! :welcome: to AFN!

I see you are having a few hiccups. They are more than likely stunted, but I wouldn't give up. Pro Mix is a very airy soil. In most of your photos the soil appears very dry. I would suggest saturating the soil just to runoff, and water again when the topsoil is dry or the pot has lightened up.

As far as Nutes, if you have no way to measure the PPM's. I would suggest to only feed 1/8-1/4 strength the recommended dosage in PH 6.1-6.5 water, and then slowly raise the levels as they progress.

Also, if you haven't a PAR meter, I would turn down the light until you notice the leaves start to reach up for the light.. AKA, pray.

I hope this helps, and others will more than likely chime in. There are many knowledgeable members in the forum who are always ready to help.
Happy growing!

Thanks for all of your advice, I noticed that the yellowing was happening inside of my seedling dome, but I wasn't sure if it was normal or not until a few days before I put them in their final pots. That's when I realized that I had overwatered the starter cups and stunted them. I was hoping that by placing them into their final pots and feeding them less water it would help but I see now that it's better to start over when these things happen so early. I do have an EC/PPM meter but not a PAR meter. When the leaves are praying, does that means that the plant wants to receive more light or does it mean that that's exactly the amount it needs? Basically I'd like to know if when I notice that the plant is praying do I increase the intensity slightly?

What it means is that they are not receiving too much light. When they stop praying, they likely are receiving too much. Too much light will also stunt them, and will often cause them to hermie. Technically they should not need more until late veg and the beginning of flower. For many strains, sometime around week 3-5 is a good time to start increasing the intensity. If possible I highly recommend investing in a PAR meter. The PhotoBio, by Phantom is a relatively inexpensive and accurate meter that is fairly easy to find.

Why are you not watering them?

I didn't want to over water the plants anymore after I noticed that I gave them too much water when they were in the Germ kit. So I decided to water every other day or every two days a small amount. Slowly ramping up the volume.

I just skimmed through the thread and I'm glad you're going to direct germ in soil your next try. My advice is to drop the seeds maybe 1/2 inch down. Water the pots/bags to runoff then use a spray bottle 2-3 times a day to just keep the top soil wet. Don't water them again until they're on their 3-4 set of leaves. I have no clue what I'm doing and that is what works for me. Good luck.

I actually changed my mind about starting directly seed into the pot, I want to see the tap root forming and I can control things easier starting them in solo cups / coco cups. This time I'll be watering less and making adjustments the moment I notice any type of discoloration.

Edit~~ After speaking with some amazing people. I've decided that the best course of action will be to replace all of these plants, also increase the amount I'll be growing due to my space. So stay tuned for a new thread where I'll be germinating 5-6 plants per tent. I'll see you guys soon and thanks for stopping by so far and I hope you all enjoyed my preliminary run, and here's to a bigger and better one, I'll update when I have everything set up :headbang:

Just purchased the par meter thanks

Alright guys good news, my PAR meter arrived today and so did my extra pots, I'll be filling up both of my tents with 5-6 plants each and setting everything up for the new run.

I have 3 jammy dodger seeds left so I'll be using those plus Sour stomper, skywalker, creme de la chem and double grape. I'll also be filling up the pots with a mix of perlite and happyfrog and a bit of the promix hp from the previous 4 pots with the jammy dodgers in em. Germinating two seeds directly in the pot and choosing the better looking seedling. not messing around with the germ kit, watering WAY less. it's a bit too easy for me to over water them when they're in the kit also after speaking to a bunch of people they've all mostly said to germinate it directly in the pot. Autoflowers are delicate when it comes to the early stages of it's life.
Back like Little Mac for round two let's go!
