Im growing autos at the moment but this is about my 8 white widow periods I just trimmed.
Ive trimmed 6 so far and have a miserable 18 ounces of wet useable bud. I also have an ENORMOUS bag of I guess it could be called shake? My buds were airy and loose and I got piles and piles of little little buds (is that shake?). How do I avoid airy loose buds on my autos? Is all this shake/tiny buds useable? I have zero interest in making hash or edibles so thats definitely out. It was my first grow ever but it seems like a pretty hard fail

mmm...welp, here'z the way i'd look at it if it were me -> 18 oz wet will probly equal out to around 5 oz dry...and well, on one hand, that may be a bit of a low yield from 6 photoz, but on the other hand, it'z 5 oz u didn't have the day before...every lil bit countz & it all addz up ;) as long as it has trichomez on it, it'z def uzeable/smokeable...it all grindz up & smokez the same, lol  and if by "little budz" u mean ruffly small fingertip size budz, that'z generally termed as popcorn ;) i know it'z discouraging, but it'z all about -> grow, learn, grow again! :headbang: ppp

Take away roughly 80% in weight for the cure and you pulled 4oz. I'd just smoke the tiny buds but that's me.

It was your first grow, could have been a lot worse. My first grow was 14g, my second was, 1oz, my third was 5oz.

It's easy to be hard on yourself but it's harder to look at the shortcomings of your grow and identify areas of improvement.

Are you familiar with VPD? Air exchange? Nutrients? Lighting? Water? I could name off a bunch of areas but I'm not growing your buds, I'm not in your situation, I can only give anecdotes and general advice.

All of those aspects can improve your buds but what caused the problems to begin with?

Plenty of helpful people here and you can always bug me, not a soil grower but I can talk your ear off. Either way don't let a failure or two or five discourage you.

You are doing better than me. 1st go died, 2nd go light failed, 3rd go my stupid dog ate my 14 day old plant.
4th time lucky here!! Lol
People here are friendly and the knowlege is outstanding. Nice community and nice attitude. All about weed and growing.
Keep the chin up and grow on.

Hey, I planted 6 seeds already and only had 3 of them to leve long enough to give each 6 grams... Don't get depressed, if you start jogging your not going to be sad because you cannot run the 50k marathon.. Good job and keep it up

If you continue growing at 4 or 5 ounces per grow you will end up with a lot of weed. it will just start adding up and you will get better and have say 10oz per pull, and on and on..

I have been farming 50 years and I learn new stuff every day and I fail more often than I would like to admit. That is part of being a farmer.

Genetics, then environment and then nutrition all contribute to the "Buds" we get. I grow tropical photoperiod plants in the summer because the are generally more open (fluffy) and tolerate high humidity and temperatures well. I find that they need really strong lights because you only run them 12/12.

Hang in there!

It seems like a fail because you are basing your results off what you see others posting. Ask yourself this, do you think good growers were good right from the start? Or do you think they had to work study and improve along the way to get where they are today?

Also ask yourself this... how many shitty grows are shared on line? Nobody gets on here and posts an unsuccessful grow. That doesn't mean they didn't happen. Every grow try to come up with at least 1 thing you can improve. My last grow wasn't very productive. But after talking to guys who know, I didn't do myself any favors by leaving my pots on a cold, not insulated floor. So next time I'll fix that and my results will be better. Also I top dressed early thinking I have a nutrient problem. Turns out I had a few thrips that were causing the problem. Well next time I won't freak out and add nutrients that gave one of my plants nitrogen toxicity that it never bounced back from. So next time my grow will be better. Next time I will run my room at a certain temp and add an air intake fan... instead of just an inline fan with filter and passive air intake. This will allow my tent Temps to hold more consistent... and I'll have a better grow.
