I will be starting my first grow soon... Depending on finances Friday I will either be starting this upcoming Saturday or I will be starting on the 20th of the month.

I want to make sure I have everything in order with this grow.

This is what I have thus far...

Lighting:
ProGrow 180 LED System

Potting/Hydro Kit:
4-gallon reservoir
2-gallon growing chamber
Pumping column
Drip ring
Drain level tube
1/2" grommet
Drain level tube
Single outlet air pump
Clay Pebbles

Nutrients:
3-part Flora Kit

I have an oscillating fan for circulation.

I will be covering the room in reflective material before the grow. Any ideas?

I have hear that heat is not an issue if you have enough room with LEDs is that correct? My room is 7L x 3W x 7H and my first couple grows will be only 1 plant to learn the basics.

Will I need to ventilate for smell much or? The room is actually in an unused laundry closet... could I use the existing dryer vent to force air/smell out? If yes, how?

I will be growing Maxi Gom for my first grow.
I will upload pictures of the room when I wake up(I work second shift and just got home lol) I would like to thank all of you that reply in advance and I cannot WAIT to get my journal started!! :-)

Welcome to afn.If your only doing one plant smell shouldn't be an issue. It's your choice but with that room I would do a few more plants. You could get a fitting that you could add into that dryer vent if needed.Good luck.:peace:

Hay dude I personally use Mylar on my walls,it's quite cheap on eBay, hydro for your first grow is brave bud, have u thought about soil for the first run to get your head round things?

They have mylar and some other things at the Hydroponics store a town or two over... I will probably just end up getting it from there. Is mylar just as good as the reflective metal looking material they had in rolls? I can get names when I get there in a few days. The way I see it, I will end up wanting to grow Hydroponics either way.... why not learn from my mistakes the first grows using Hydro so that I don't have to adjust when I decided to switch later y'know? I have quite a few seeds to experiment with.

Thank you namvet!
I will end up doing more plants, I want to focus on one plant so that I can pay attention to every single little detail throughout the process and learn how to combat issues instead of stressing myself out with multiple things going on at once. I am a realist, and practice makes perfect. I hope for the best, but will be preparing for the worst. The way I have measured out the room I have enough room for 10 plants comfortably am I wrong?? If I could fit more I would probably go with more once I can upgrade to a higher output Pro-Grow.

Alright, just got done with the shower and am closing my laptop! Thank you for the quick replies gents I hope to hear from you, and others, very soon! :peace:

welcome fran! if your going to grow hydro, you might want to add a ph /ppm meter. i know they are expensive but i think you might need it:2cents:
if i went total hydro i would get it! your light is good for two plants in that space you should grow two:thumbs: if you run in to any trouble the guys and gals out here will hop in and help! you wont find a better group anywhere on planet earth!:peace: they have your back!:D me too!

Welcome fran happy learnring and good look with your first grow :peace: Si

I agree with astro420. PH meter is a must for hydro, or any grow for that mater. If you can't afford a nice combo meter (ph/ppm) I'd at least get one of those cheap PH test kits. You can find them at pet stores that carry aquariums/fish. Also a good bottle of calmag is a must in my opinion as well. Welcome to the site Franchise!!!!!!

Thank you for the warm welcome :-)
Thanks, I knew I was forgetting some things :-) I plan on getting a decent one $20-$30 and I will most definitely upgrade as I get more experienced/add more plants. I have heard great things about this forum, and I am sure I will get the support I need and once I get experienced enough I can help too!! I think I am going to have to stick with one plant this grow though. I will run two for my second grow, which will be right after my first :-)
This is my plan so far:
First Grow- 1 Maxi Gom
Second Grow- 2 Jock Horror Auto :-)

Thank you :-)
CalMag is a good suggestion, I will pick up a bottle just in case I run into issues and someone says I need it. I will have it readily available then :-)

I am transferring the pictures to my CPU now and I will upload them in a few minutes.
