Yes, the pH meter will be the biggest expense, but well worth it. It's also something that you will have for years so a good investment.

No reason you should expect failure on your first grow. If you follow the advice given here, keep your pH in check and feed them right you should get good results. We've had many new growers like yourself pull off some fine grows on their first attempt. No reason you can't too.

Sounds like you bought a GenHydro waterfarm....be advised that their feeding chart is designed for a photo-period clone, not a plant grown from seed, and certainly not an autoflower. Use 1/4 strength nutes at first and bump up the formula as the plant gets healthier. I've been researching the heck out of those setups, have 1 of each (power grow, waterfarm) and the feeding chart is way off for a seedling.

The guy I bought it off grows auto's and he said to drop week 3/4 and stick to the feeding chart from there.

I got paid, but I am trying to pay some bills first before I spend anything. I will know by the end of the weekend if I have the money to start a soil grow Sunday or Monday night.

So I am most definitely not going to be able to afford what I need to start my soil grows.
I am going to start a hydro grow and a journal now. I will have the money to start a full solid soil grow....

I am hoping for the best, but this first grow is an experiment while I save up for the necessary materials. Meaning: Carbon Filter, Fan, Mylar, Additional Buckets, Soil, and Additional Nutes.

Sounds like a plan. There are plenty of people here who can lend a hand if you run into any issues.
