Not much to report on at this point, still waiting for a taproot from my main projects for this grow. They have been inside the plates for around 10 hours now with probably half of that sitting on top of a convertor box acting as a warming pad,,,that made me nervous so I put it in a safe place in my basement.
I know this site deals with autoflowers but im kind of at an impasse point right now until some taproots start showing. If anyone is wondering why I have so many cups in my grow area, I was using this logic: I would rather practice on bagseed plants and get comfortable with different techniques like some of the different stress training methods I have been reading about. I do not want to destroy ANY plants at all, but if Im going to muck one up, I would rather it be one of these bagseed plants before I tear one of my NL plants to shreds. Im playing the law of averages, I figured pot a bunch up and keep fingers crossed lol.....so far it looks like 3 decided to make an appearance by the end of the day 8/11/2016...now if I can get my NL to do this, I will be in businness lol
Btw, I don't really know exactly yet what medium I am for certain going to grow in so thats why I havent mentioned it. I know it wont be hydro because I have no idea how that works but im guessing water is involved lol, i hope...anyways...what is in those red solo cups right now is a cheap potting mix I picked up, I forget the name of it but it is your common basic starter mix type medium. Most of the cups have a 5 part medium to 1 part MG Perlite mixture, when i say "most" I mean like 10 of the 13 cups...2 of the cups have like a 3:1 ratio..and the very last cup had like a tsp of worm castings added to it.
I just have recently gotten into composting and learning how to construct a compost bin out of a rubbermaid container. Right now I have some chicken shit in there, like 25 pounds, I bought the bag at Lowes...oh yeah just remembered the name of the starter mix, it is Ferry Morse Organic Starter Mix and it has Sphagum Peat Moss, Vermiculite,Perlite, and a wetting agent...the first bag i bought at lowes isnt supposed to be used for container plants or so it says on the bag..it is called Sta Green flower and vegetable garden soil..i bought a huge bag for like $7 and been using the shit out of it until i read on the back of the bag "not for container plants" hasnt seemed to slow me down yet lol....which brings me to the chicken shit bag i bought from Lowes..it is called Harvest Organic Potting Mix I cant think of NPK right at moment but i think the sta green is 0.05-0.04-0.03 and the other bag is pretty similiar to that too. Anyways all of that plus food scraps(all compostable) and about 500 worms are hopefully at work in that compost bin.....
