FD's Guide to Growing Hefty Autos in Small Places.

Ok guys i have been dragging my knuckles on this for too long. This thread will be dedicated to my actual grow technique. I will have everything in here from the way i germ seeds to the way i harvest and everything in between.

ill cover my soil mixes, teas, water adjustments, feeding schedules as well as the recipes for the soil and teas that i use. My goal is to teach how to grow the bud lumps you see in the small pots i use. I feel if you use this you may have the same success that i do when it comes to autos in small places.

Bare with me as i will update this on the regular, but will be locking it to get it all organized.

I just transplanted using the tier method into a 5 gallon smart pot. It is NL x BB Auto. Here is the link to my grow, let me know what you think :) NL x BB

hi FD, hi guys,
many thanks to FD and all the other people for this great 3D!!!

I need just a little help with the unit conversion... i would like to be sure that I'll not made a wrong recipe.
so:
25lb bag of compo => 11,34 Kg
18Qt Bag perlite => 17 lt
3 cups of Blood and bone Meal => 3cup US = 0.71 lt
1.5 cups of powdered egg shells (or oyster shells) => 1.5cup US = 0.35 lt
1.5 Cups of Epsom salt
1/2 cup of sea weed kelp
1 cup of powdered baby cereal => 1cup US = 0.24 lt

is it all correct??
many thanks, keep ti green!!!

many thanks boss!!
i hope that it can help the people that normally use the metric system like me.

love & green

What an interesting thread. Good stuff and thanks for sharing.

Why does the PH increase when bubbling water? My tap water is 7.2. In the past I have treated it before bubbling it and never checked it after it bubbled for 24 hours. After reading this thread I had some questions and decided to check. To my suprise treated 6.5 water raised to over 8.0 after bubbled for 24 hours. I do not have a ph pen and reley soley on the solution.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone else find that their liquid ph testing solution is as wrong as FD claims? Does your pen tell you something is way low when your solution says it's good? Could it be possible that 8.0 in soution is 6.5 with a pen? Isn't that what FD claims? He said his solution said low 6's but his pen was off the charts low. Whats more trustworthy the pen or the solution?

So with this said I think it's best in my situation to bubble the water for 24 hours then bring it back to 6.5 then add nutes. I will be getting a pen today to get a better reading but I struggle to believe that solution is that far off. I also bought some oxygen tablets to test out. Any observations or thoughts?

I have same thing 7.2 tap water, 8.3 after bubbling for 24 hrs so just lower before feed.

Bubbling your water to add oxygen is the single BEST idea I have read on this forum or any other.

Can someone explain the difference to me in adding Hydrogen Peroxcide to your water and using an Airstone? is it just more Organic vs. Less organic styles of growing or is there actually a difference in what your doing. To my knowledge and I am super new to Auto's but with other past crops I've used hydrogen peroxcide in my Distilled water mixture about 20-40min to maximize o2(Because Hydrogen Peroxcide is just one extra added o2 molacule bound to Ho2) before my feeding depending on how much i'm feeding. Am I Wrong?:confused:

adding extra is ok... the airstone provides continuous dissolved oxygen... h202 break down failry quickly back to H2O and O.. so its effects arent as long...

see my sig on ph... scroll down in that link to "FD"s iteration on Water"

Week
1 pH water only

1.5 add in Big Bloom to the mix at 1/2 tea spoon

2 1/2tsp Grow Big 1/2 tsp Big Bloom

2.5 3/4 tsp of grow big

3 1tsp grow big and 1/2 Tiger bloom 1/2 tea spoon Big Bloom

3.5 1/2 tsp Grow Big 1/2tsp Tiger bloom

4 1tsp Tiger bloom 1/2 tsp Grow Big

4.5 Clean pH'ed water to clear out salt build up

5 2tsp tiger bloom 1/2 grow big

5.5 1 Teaspoon Grow Big

6 Begin Flush for the final weeks. At this point i can flush for a week before i begin to see yellowing of the fans.

I like to leave enough time to get all the salts out of there before the harvest. This stuff WILL salt up on you and cause build up and lock out.

Hope this helps some of you out there and remember this may vary to your application. This is just MY feed schedule.

How Big of a Reservoir where you using? Fox Farms Tiger Bloom definitely will burn plants i over fed on that once and had some gnarly results. I'm trying to compare to the best of my abilities your feeding and what mine was.
